Charming rural property with a nautical feel.

Malacca is a lovingly converted house. Set in four acres of woodland, it is a perfect location to relax and as a base to enjoy the island. Set on a slope above the Medina Valley, an old stable block has been transformed with furniture custom made for the house and from the former Royal Yacht.

The well equipped kitchen and larder at the end of the house lead into a long dining room with custom made table to sit 14, surrounded by old church pew and chairs. The former town hall doors have been converted to fold back, separating it from the living room. The parquet flooring leads through to the lounge with log burner and large glazed bay. Further along are a cloakroom, walk in shower, and single and double furnished with decking and fittings from the Royal Yacht.

A couple of steps up from the Lounge lead to the sauna. Next is a small ladder to a boat like double bed cabin (best for the younger or more agile). An ensuite double and spacious bathroom are at the back of the house. Upstairs you will find the valuted ceiling bedroom with fitted wardrobes and snug ideal for curling up with a book. Off it is a large balcony with excellent views over the woodland and surrounding area.

Outside is a patio and lawn which continues into the woodland, giving good privacy from the road. Behind the house is a mature orchard, continuing into woodland.

Peaceful and unusual house

We enjoyed our stay at this characterful secluded property. The large dining room table was ideal for our family, as was the privacy of the location.

Great place

We thought it was a great place with loads of atmosphere. The garden and woodland areas are, in parts, overgrown which gives added fun to children. There is a" Famous Five" feel with quality stuff but nothing too precious and a good place to relax. We want to return next year so don't want to be too enthusiastic and attract competition.

Brilliant property in an excellent location!

We booked this property for a last minute getaway and James (the owner) was brilliant at responding to questions quickly, and even arranged for a welcome hamper with thoughtful essentials! We all had a great time and would return without hesitation.

A real gem

Malacca is the perfect place to get away from it all. The children had a blast in the large front garden and woods. The property is very cozy and has everything you will need for a base to explore the island. Thank you for a great stay.

Roomy quirky property

Spacious property great for a group of 7 friends on a weekend break. Ideally situated 10 minutes from Cowes port with easy access to all areas of the island. Felt the property could do with a good spring clean (dirty crockery in dishwasher/dusty furniture/dirty windows. ) No local information file/guides however good wi-if access. Owner very pleasant and approachable.

Unique beautiful house

Stayed for a long weekend for my grandads 90th birthday. 4 generations and this was the ideal property. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the ‘cubby hole’ bedroom is awesome for children (and adults!). The master bedroom with the balcony is gorgeous. The layout of the house is perfect for families as the living room and kitchen are at the centre and flow together. The house is set in gorgeous grounds. It is somewhere where I want to tell everyone about as it is so impressive but also keep a secret as I would like to visit again and don’t want it to be sold out! ;-) this house has the wow factor in a very unique understated way. Communication with James was fantastic and we even got to meet his gorgeous baby daughter. Easy to find and great location for exploring this glorious island.

Beautiful & peaceful Malacca….

I’m so happy we found this beautiful nautical property to rent. We had a warm welcome from James on our arrival (and good communication before we arrived too). Everything a family needed was there, iron, washing machine etc. It is a fantastic base to explore the beautiful Isle of Wight. The children loved the nautical feel house, there were plenty of rooms to explore and chill out in. Everything was so clean and it was a lovely comfortable and peaceful stay. The outside grounds are lovely too, it reminded me of ireland! We are so grateful to have had such a lovely holiday. Thank you Malacca!

We have been traveling with the family for years, we have never had a host like ‘James’!

James did everything we should be able to book it, and made sure we will enjoy our short weekend break! The property was super clean, the pictures don’t do justice! It’s much nicer! It’s spacious for large families, there is everything there you need, great location! We had the best weekend ever! And to our host! ‘Super Host’! We have no words to thank him enough! Will definitely visit again!
