Charming older cottage in nature
This charming, older Norwegian log cabin with an annex invites you to the perfect escape from everyday hustle and bustle. With 3 bedrooms accommodating 8 people, plus a baby bed, and an annex with a double bed for 2, it’s ideal for families, a group of friends, a work team, or anyone in need of peace and quiet. The house is located in a forested area in the middle of the Mols Bjerge National Park. A PATH LEADS THE FINAL PART OF THE WAY UP TO THE HOUSE. THIS PROVIDES A VERY PRIVATE LOCATION BUT MAKES THE HOUSE UNSUITABLE FOR THOSE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES.
The older, cozy design creates an authentic and relaxing atmosphere. It’s not luxury, but perfect for those who want to enjoy the surroundings and be close to each other in good company.
New mattresses were added in August 2024 in the main house. The double bed in the annex is 200 cm long and 180 cm wide, while the other beds in the main house are 195 cm long.
The area around the house is a true treasure for nature lovers, as it is located in the middle of a forest where you wake up to birdsong. The surroundings offer unlimited opportunities for activities and relaxation. The fresh air and scenic landscapes ensure an amazing experience. A pleasant hike through Mols Bjerge leads directly to a beautiful natural beach with clean sand, and further on, there’s a lovely pier that adds an extra dimension to your swim. On the beach, there is an ice cream kiosk, and just around the corner, there is a restaurant, café, and a small grocery store.
The house itself, with its rustic charm, invites you to cozy evenings. The living room and kitchen are combined, providing a cozy setting for cooking, relaxing by the wood stove with one of the house's many board games, or simply enjoying quality time together. The outdoor terrace and fire pit are ideal for outdoor dining with a grill, and there’s plenty of space to play, splash in a pool, pitch a tent, and enjoy other activities around the house. There are also materials available to build an enclosure, for example, for a rabbit. Just remember to provide shelter, as there are eagles in the area. Occasionally, other forest animals may venture close to the house. The annex contains not only a double bed but also a small table, offering a place to retreat and write, read, or simply have some alone time if you're in a group.
There is a washing machine, and clothes can be dried under the terrace, on a line outside, or even above the wood stove.
There is bus transport near the summer house, both to Femmøller Strand with its small grocery store and further to Ebeltoft, one of Denmark’s most popular holiday towns, with its beautiful old town hall, timber-framed houses, and many shops, restaurants, and cafés along the narrow cobblestone streets, where there are markets, activities, and life throughout the day, and where the town’s watchmen make their rounds and sing the sun down.
There is also a bus from the summer house toward Rønde, where there are good shopping options, several cafés, a pharmacy, and small shops. From here, you can catch buses further to Aarhus. If you don’t have a car, you can also use Flextrafik.
The entire area is filled with tourist attractions and exciting activity options for both children and adults within a short driving distance. Besides forest and beach and the town of Ebeltoft, there are the Frigate Jylland, the Glass Museum, Ree Park Safari, Kalø Castle Ruin, Scandinavian Wildlife Park, Djurs Sommerland amusement park, Gl. Estrup Manor Museum, and much more. Several providers offer horseback riding on Icelandic horses, fishing opportunities, and there are also a couple of nature centers. For wellness enthusiasts, there are many options, including Lubker Spa and Wellness, where the family can also swim or enjoy the water slides, or you can visit Rønde for a Thai massage at Suksabay.
Please note - Outside Danish school holidays and outside high season, up to 2 times a week for a few hours - depending on the wind direction - you can hear a motocross track, which is located 1.5 km from the cottage. Note: Not for commercial rental.
