We spotted duiker, boomslang, baboons, mongoose and lots of colourful birds, butterflies, dragon flies and much more. The hike up the valley is beautiful. "The location of the hotel is good. The stairs down the the rooms is built for somebody with long legs and the ramp - not sure if that is for a wheel chair which I will never use. The restaurant is very over priced and its really not great food. The food at Mrs Simpson is WAY better. The fire place, having a vent right on top, the room was always smelling of smoke. Rooms do all need a little TLC. Staff is very friendly and helpful."

"2 weeks prior to our arrival, we sent a message, and have still not had a reply. At arrival, the host did not know we were coming and had no info about our booking. Luckily she did a good job on preparing our house quickly. Kitchen supply was very old, frying pan useless and no toaster. "

"We had a marvellous time at Caracal Lodge. It was a wonderful away from it all experience. Magtree Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped even though there is no electricity, power being supplied by gas appliances, paraffin lamps and LED lighting. It was magical to wake up with views of the resident giraffe family as well as zebra, impala, horses and a pet pig! Outside there was a braai, fire pit in a lovely shaded area and a small pond. Exploring the 300 hectare game park there...
