A pleasant overnight stay. Room was clean, bed was ok. Used the swimming pool, which was cold but tolerable and other amenities. Nice breakfast and a late check out.
Basic hotel to stay overnight in. Cleanliness could have been improved and the rooms need a touch up as overall looked rather shabby. Breakfast had a good variety.
Having read recent reviews we werent sure what to expect but we had a lovely well decorated clean tidy room with a big comfy bed. The staff were all polite and curteous. Breakfast was nice . We used the pool at 7am when it was quiet which was very clean.
Lovely big room, a bit dated but very clean, great powerful shower. Nice modern reception and restaurant, not so clean though. Dusty window sils and blinds, carpet in corridors needed a good hoover. Pool and spa area excellent
Best part about the hotel is the staff.
The hotel is in a bad need of a major cash injection. Booked Junior Suite the room did not look like the pictures on Expedia. There were stains on carpet, furniture was in need of being badly replaced and bathroom looked like it was Installed in the 60s. Very disappointing given how much it was for a night stay. Hotel needs to be closed to be done up.
I would avoid the spa unless you want to be hit by overwhelming smell of chlorine. Which you can smell from lobby! Not relaxing.
Stayed for one night to attend a wedding in a nearby venue. The best thing about this hotel are the friendly staff. Accommodation is not within the Castle itself but in another building close by. As stated in previous reviews the rooms are very dated and worse for wear. The curtains in room 227 were torn and the furniture has seen better days. Not sure how the hotel has achieved its 4 stars. Breakfast was very mediocre. We didn’t have time to use the spa facilities. In hindsight, I wished I had booked one of the cheaper chain hotels in the area. This hotel was a disappointment and not worth the money paid.
My husband booked an overnight stay for my 50 th birthday the room was very dated and the bed had no valance sheet around it with a plain white cover. The bathroom had cracked tiles and black mould. The furniture was very old with chips and marks on it.
The service in the restaurant was very slow and the bar area was cold and not well lite.
The best area was the pool area. I won’t return there and was very disappointed for the price.
My wife and I and our son and his partner stayed three nights at Airth Castle. Some of the reviews we had read beforehand made us nervous. We believe the hotel is currently upgrading their bedrooms and during our stay we did see some upgraded rooms which looked really good. Both our rooms had not been upgraded so were a tad disappointing. Having said that the rest of the hotel lived up to expectations and were clean and modern and very comfortable. The restaurant area and lounge bar were very comfortable. Hotel food is notoriously disappointing but our meals dispelled this generality. The restaurant food is excellent and our evening meals would not disgrace any high class restaurant. The quality, presentation and service were outstanding and none of us could fault a thing. Breakfast in such a large hotel dealing with lots of people can be difficult but again we were not disappointed and could not fault it.
The staff are young but all wear uniforms and are well trained.
The spa and pool areas are clean and everything worked. The steam room and sauna were excellent and the pool was comfortable. When all the rooms are upgraded this facility will be superb. Will be happy to return
Arrived at Airth Castke for a one night stay on BBD option, we had a beautiful meal, couple of Guinness ,,, oh it was delicious!! We asked reception if they had any availability for another night ,,, they said”absolutely!! ( beautiful wee lassie in reception) ,,, another stunning meal was had. We spoke with the owner and told him we were from Coatbridge,, he reminisced about his family coming from here!! Offered us a drink!! Such a pleasant fella,,, we can see there is a hard times for the hospitality industry but he is doing his upmost to keep this place going!!! Please go and support him, it’s a fantastic place, spa is awesome and the staff are just exceptional in their time they have for every person that walks through the door!!! I seen a few greeting face customers and would
Like to ask them to pack it in,,,, that’s someone’s son or daughter you are throwing your jibes to( just imagine that was your child) !!!! Cut it out!!! They are our Scottish weans and we won’t put up with you speaking to them like that!!! You can stay away!!! All the best to you all,, good times will come again x

Airth Castle, not what it used to be.
My wife and I have stayed at Airth Castle a number of times and have always been very pleased, hence the return stays.
This visit was completely different...... the room, this was very dated and old (green bathroom with green tiles) the carpet was threadbare, very poor lighting for make up etc but the bed was comfortable and clean.
The bar area, this was probably the biggest let down. On both days of our stay we arrived at the bar area about lunchtime where the bar was covered in 50+ glasses and bottles, dirty from the night before. Serious lack of staff was evident in the waiting time at the bar and the cleanliness of this area. No ice buckets available for a bottle of wine of 3 occasions of our stay. Staff constantly having to go to another bar to get clean glasses. Actually have nothing positive to say about this area.
The restaurant, food was amazing and of a very high standard. Unfortunately it was also clear in this area that the waiting staff were short of staff. On our second night we waited 50 mins for a drink as there was a wedding being held and the bar staff were serving the wedding guests first.
I unfortunately have lots of other negatives but not enough space to write here.
We were hoping to spend xmas at Airth (have stayed over xmas before) but will definitely not be wasting our money.
Its a shame this place has went so downhill!

Disliked: Staff & service
Don't have high expectations
From the outside the hotel looks good. I stay in 1-2 hotels every week and whereas I don't think I'm fussy I had a few issues with this one and drove away feeling somewhat disappointed with my stay.
Staff generally seemed a bit unwelcoming (except the front person in the morning checkout), like when as an employee you're annoyed with the establishment & can't find reason to smile. I was ignored at the bar and then the bartender served someone else while I waited which annoyed me. I ate in the restaurant; bought the ribeye at £28 (!) which arrived slightly over cooked (I ordered rare & received medium) and still cold in the middle! The stilton sauce was also partially frozen immersed in some hot oil so I stirred it with a chip for a while until it melted together. The rest of the food on the plate was also only lukewarm, including a fried mushroom that was completely cold. Then I was overcharged for the steak (£31 which is the fillet steak price) but managed to get a refund from the helpful lady the next morning. In my room I wanted a cup of tea only to find there was no milk provided. By this stage I was so exasperated I couldn't be bothered mentioning it so drank water instead.
The bed was old and 5/10 in comfort. The bathroom needed updating 10 years ago. the gym was okay in providing cardio equipment, a few weights and a couple of benches and served the purpose of a gym-away-from-home.
Had a lovely stay, bed very comfortable. Only thing about room was that there was no power points near the bed & phone had to be charged across the room. Other than that we had a wonderful stay.
Lovely spacious very clean room, bed and pillows very comfortable. Lovely walks for our 2 little puppies.
Have stayed many times but this time we found the dinner menu a little limited and I missed the fruit at breakfast.
I was very much looking forward to staying in the property. Beautiful grounds and castle and it was peaceful. However on arrival there were a number of things that disappointed me
On the website we were told we could book in at 2 so we booked a taxi for 2.30 as we were going to a high profile concert that evening and wanted to get into town early ahead of traffic etc. on arrival we were told check in wasn’t till 3 and could leave our bags behind the desk. We decided to put our bags back in our cars as they were probably safer there.
We went to the bar area and it was mayhem. Lots of new arrivals , the gas wasn’t working for the beer pumps, young untrained staff who hadn’t a clue what they were doing ( one asked me how to make a long vodka!). Not their fault as there was no senior management on to supervise them!
One lady ordered a coffee and was told “ I only do drinks I don’t do coffees” to which she stormed off.
We then move onto breakfast.
Cold and ran out of sausages. Firstly there were no coffee cups then when they brought them out they were stained. Not what you expect from this kind of establishment. During breakfast I heard other people complain about different things like no towels in their rooms and holes or cracks in the bathroom floor!
To finish it off when we went back to our room the key fob to our door fell right inside the mechanism which resulted in maintenance having to be called
We won’t be staying again nor recommending Airth castle to anyone e
Challenging - told I was staying in the castle (the old bit) - walked up and buzzer to let me in didn’t work - then when door jammed they started arguing whether I was pushing or pulling the door despite it saying pull on the door - problem is that it says pull on both half’s of door but the side nearest the buzzer where you have to stand to speak to them is permanently locked with a bolt from inside ! Then inside the door card didn’t work ! Came back later evening from a concert and was going to go to the bar but was closed ! In the room it was hot and stuffy and the lights didn’t work ! The phone to reception didn’t work ! The only way to open the window was to prop it open with a mug ! There was a tray with coffee and biscuits - well 1 biscuit in the open pack kindly left by the last guest ! Room and bathroom were old and tired ! Breakfast food was OK tasted and plentiful but cold despite me being there at 8.00AM in a 7.00AM to 10.00AM window.
The accomodation is screaming out for renovation, it is simply tatty. I had to change rooms on arrival because the first was unacceptable. Why they offered it to anyone at £137 in the first place I don't know. Getting by on nice staff and local scenery isn't good enough.
Beautiful garden grounds and quiet rural setting. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Health club facilities were impeccable. Very enjoyable stay.
Rooms very poor quality for price we paid, this is not a £100 a night hotel! Everything felt dirty, bathroom floor sticky, sink wouldn’t drain, poor WiFi signal, breakfast rubbish, also staff unhelpful and actually rude at some points - to the guy who’s first night it was on the bar, I’m sorry for the way you were spoken to by the more experienced barmaid (or your manager), she was extremely rude and dismissive of you as well as myself and other guests, it was very uncomfortable. Would not recommend.
