"⭐ 1 Star – Would Not Stay Again I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. I booked a 3-night stay and ended up leaving early after 2 nights because the cleanliness was unacceptable. The condition of the room did not match what was advertised. The carpet had visible stains throughout, the curtains had obvious discoloration and buildup, and the overall room felt unclean and poorly maintained. Even looking out the window, there was buildup and grime on the exterior areas, which gave the whole place a neglected feel. I attached photos so you can see exactly what I’m talking about—this wasn’t just minor wear and tear. It felt unsanitary. The staff was friendly during my stay, which I do appreciate. However, when I raised concerns and ultimately checked out early, I was not offered any kind of refund or resolution for the unused night, which was very disappointing. Because of these conditions, I didn’t feel comfortable staying the full reservation and left early, which ended up costing me money. The only positive was the location, but that doesn’t make up for the condition of the property. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made to cleanliness and upkeep."

"Solid "5s" for the room. Best bed we've slept in yet, and we travel several times a year. Food ... hm. Late-night at the snack bar: tacos, EXCELLENT. Chicken strips, BORDERLINE AWFUL (incinerated and unchewable), plus unfriendly staff at the counter. Breakfast: Server wasn't attentive and had her priorities mixed up. We are a former restaurant owner (independent diner, 10 years) and chain restaurant manager, and always treat staff with courtesy and respect regardless of service or food quality. Our server was very friendly but could use some social guidance (like not calling a 70-plus woman "miss," or enthusiastically praising customers for asking for napkins or coffee refills). Food was dropped but there was no follow-up for nearly 15 minutes during a time when she was not busy. The food itself was overcooked (eggs hard instead of over medium, hashbrowns that snapped when cutting with a fork). We ate it and didn't complain, because we recognized she was doing her best but needed training. Overall, our visit was positive and staff was, for the most part, professional (except the late-night counter staff at the snack bar). We will likely stay there again but manage our food schedule so that we aren't relying on those services."

"Because of the Marathon thru the Avenue of the Giants was this weekend, it was very hard to find a room. This was the only place available and even though the rates were extremely high, we were pleasantly surprised with the property and staff. the early breakfast was an added benefit before we hit the road to the Redwood National Parks. I would stay there again if in the area. Front desk staff was very helpful."

"This place is all about location. The experience in a 2-room suite was like staying at the home of an elderly relative who hasn’t updated their furnishings since the 70s. The rooms were spacious but a bit musty and quite worn. But it’s half a block to the main street so overall it’s a good choice if you don’t mind the thin walls and shag carpeting."
