Weekend getaway

My first experience staying at this hotel. I would recommend it as a good quite place to enjoy some down time. This hotel was located very close to shopping and restaurants.

Overall Nice Stay

The room was nice and bedding very comfortable. Desk clerk was very friendly. However,there was garbage and used towels left in the hallway at room doors all day long without being cleaned up.

The staff were great. However the rooms were disgusting. Dirty socks, bottles all under the bed. I had to kill three roaches on my first night there. Need to do better with their rooms.

3rd room finally was good enough

I rented 2 rooms & the one my son's family checked into, smelled, they told the manager & he said they've been having trouble with mold & moved them to another room, that room's toilet was plugged up, so he gave them a 3rd room. We feel that we should get a credit back on at least half of the cost, for what we went through.

There was a large garbage bag full on the ground outside the elevator on the 3rd floor that had the hallway smelling pretty bad. The bag was there when we checked in after 4 pm, was there when we left again after 6, and was still there when we came back for the night at 1 am. It was gone when we left to check out after 10.

The room was old and dingy, not clean. The air conditioner unit had mold on it. Could easily be spread around the room when the unit is running. Staff was not friendly or inviting.

It smelled so bad we had to go buy an air freshener, none of the outlets in the bathroom worked, only half the outlets in the rest of the room worked. The shower barely had 2 steams of water, no trash cans, the sink was backed up

My hotel room was not properly cleaned. There were dirty bath towels on the floor of the bathroom and none of my bathroom washcloths were restocked. The bed sheets did not smell fresh either.

The front desk lady never got up in the 3 times I went to the desk, first upon arrival at 2:45 rudely told me that room wouldn’t be ready until 4. When I came back at 4 to check in, still stayed at desk. When I checked out today, same lady and same thing, stayed at desk which was a good distance from counter. Man that had the night shift was very friendly and was at the counter each time I saw him. Our air was not working but I didn’t complain for that, the guest laundry room was not the cleanest but the man at front desk was kind and gave me the tip to do a rinse cycle before I washed our things.

Could of been better

It was ok. The facility seemed a little dated. When I got there no one was available to check me in. The employee was sitting behind the desk in a little area where she was not able to be seen when you walk up to the desk. So I waited for about 10-15 minutes in the lobby before being checked in. The only reason I saw the desk attendant she awnsered her cell phone and stood up from where she was sitting. I don’t think my room was cleaned good. I moved the pillows on the bed to check it and saw a long hair in the bed. Also, saw a string a hair in the shower. I could not make myself sleep underneath the covers. I slept at the foot of the bed on top of the covers. I think my charges for this stay was a little over priced. But compared to other hotels close by it was affordable. I guess you get what you pay for. Will probably book again in the future due to needing some where affordable to stay on the weekend for employment purposes.

Pulling up to property we noticed mold on outside of the building coming from AC units, but thought maybe it was cleaner inside. It was not. While the check in process was speedy and the desk clerk was friendly, that was the only good thing. There was dog hair all over, in the hallway as well as all over the room floor, curtains, etc. Took my shoes off and my socks were covered in pet hair. It may be my bad for not checking pet policy, but I have allergies and it was horrible the smell and hair all over. Worse than the dog hair was the stench of dog pee in the room. There were several dusty surfaces as if most of the room (barhroom sink, dresser drawers, tv area) was not cleaned, appearing as if only sheets and towels were changed between guests. It is a suite so there was a stove top that had burned food caked in the burners. There were dogs barking all night long and it smelled like there were marijuana plants growing in the room next to us the smell of smoke was so strong. There was a ring of grim in the bathtub, again, as if the rooms are not actually cleaned. Worst part was when I went to pull the shower curtain back and a dried, crusty, used wash cloth fell from the rod. At that moment we canceled our stay to relocate to another MUCH nicer hotel in the area. we chose a hotel in Flowood assuming it had to be nicer than Jackson proper, this was not the case. I wont stay at another Candelwood and this may be the end of all IHG hotels for me.
