Great experience staying at Chequers. The hotel is very well located, plenty of car park spaces in front of the hotel and staff was absolutely brilliant!

Good hotel and comfortable bed. Had cancel the second night as the hotel was closed. Access for an 81 year old was very difficult. Lots of stairs to manage. The very cold weather made it even more difficult. The manager was very good and helpful. We hope to get a refund for the second night. The location was excellent and the pub was very quirky and quite special.
It was a nice place to stay if you’re attending an event. However, the beds were quite squeaky and wobbly. Also, the check-out door was locked, which made it difficult to return the key normally; a key box would be a good idea. Overall, it was relatively quiet, and I appreciated the back entrance for after-hours access.
This quaint, Grade 2 Listed building housing the bar and reception desk has excellent, family staff. The guest rooms are modern in design, clean & spacious. My son and I enjoyed looking around the village and ate at one of the various resturaunt's located nearby. Nice and quiet overnight, We left this morning to drop off my son at Gatwick Airport (30 minutes drive) avoiding the risk of him missing his flight. (We would have had to use the M25 if we drove from our home)

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
I made allowance for the fact that the property was family owned , not a chain. The father had retired through ill health and the son was taking over. The refurbishment was a work in progress. The price was good value. The son was friendly and helpful. The building had character. I slept well on a comfortable clean bed with good quality clean linen . I will return.
Lovely old building but sadly run down, 1980s decor and facilities and no food service of any kind. But bed was comfortable and TV worked well. Price was very low though so represents good value for money for a basic overnight stay.
Arrived after dark and left early so no chance to see outside. However, on staff a young lady named Tiffany was excellent and an absolute credit to her employers

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The hotel consists of rooms above the pub. I had a self check in at rear of pub - the entry is very old and shabby. To be fair the lady I spoke to on the phone advised that the property is undergoing new ownership so perhaps renovation/refubishment plans are in the pipeline. She was friendly and helpful. The room itself was very old fashioned, the en suite was 60's/70's mustard coloured with an old fashioned electric heater on the wall which was a blast from the past. HOWEVER, the room and ensuite were clean and I felt a great effort had been made to ensure the bed looked clean and comfortable. The carpet felt slightly "sticky"underfoot which was slightly off-putting. However it was a clean room and bed and was relatively good value - I simply needed a bed for a night so it served its purpose.
Really nice place the owner was Really nice could of done with a key box

Good value for the area
Stayed for business, it is what it is, reasonable rates for a reasonable room. Comfy beds, close to shops and plenty of food options within walking distance.
Manageress very welcoming, polite and good local knowledge
No kitchen facilties.
Reception not adequately staffed.
Shower head leaked, shower screen did not stop water escaping.
No dedicated parking available for the hotel.
Wifi was hit and miss.
It wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t bring my family here. The sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and powerful . It was Saturday so the bar was open but no food being served, but there were other options to eat in the village.
It was a derelict pub no doors where open at the front , we sonehow found our way into back entrance ages away ! No signs or anything ! It was dark and a gritty , we actually left and didn’t stay the night !
1st room offered, TV not working, no on suite
facilties, bare boards on floor. Paint on ceilling flaking off. 2nd room, just a bed, no side lights, no facilities, no tv. Plaster on one wall not tnere revealing bare concrete. Bare floor boards with very uneven floors. Very dusty. Shared shower room had just cold water. Floor of the bathroom had floor tiles missing.
This was in the OLD part of the building. The 2 rooms appear to be converted attic space. FOR £60 A night, this is far from ideal in this day and age.
We arrived to find the place very dirty not vacuumed.
Then we found underwear & a tube of lubricant.
The next morning the cleaner entered the room 3 times.
With his own key without knocking.
Didn’t even stay at the property, turned up to check in,place all locked up in darkness, spent afternoon in pub opposite trying to find another room, called and called on phone,no answer for hours, was told place is often like that, very disappointing, ruined my trip
