Cozy Home With Mountain Views Near Davis Mtn State Park and McDonald Observatory

This Texas-style home is located on 5 acres on a hillside with beautiful Davis Mountain views. The location is outstanding. Just 8 min to Davis Mountain State Park, 20 min to McDonald Observatory & 15 min to downtown Ft. Davis. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, coffee pot, toaster, knives, kettle, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, oven and gas stove. There are three bedrooms in this home. One is a spacious master bedroom with a queen sized bed and a sitting room that has a gas fireplace. The other two bedrooms have double beds and are themed: "cowboy bedroom" and "Native American bedroom." All bedrooms contain premium bedding. Both bathrooms are full bathrooms and are quite nice. The guest bathroom has a tub/shower combination and the master bathroom contains a Greek soaking tub. If you need to combine work and play, no problem. There is an office and free Wi-Fi. Feel free to bring your own ether cable to plug right into the modem, if desired. The living room is furnished with red leather furniture, a coffee table, cow hide rug, gas fire place and a 55" Visio television. The dining table seats 6 people. A small bar area seats 2 additional people. The kitchen, dining and living areas are open concept. The views from every window in this house are beautiful. The porch is a wonderful place to sit and enjoy morning coffee while watching for deer or for sipping a glass of wine in the evening while star gazing. Deer often visit the property early in the morning and near dusk. Also, there is a utility room with a large size washer and dryer. You will know that you are in Texas while staying here because of all the unmistakably "Texas" furnishings and overall style. There is a carport suitable for 1 vehicle, and there is additional parking in the circle driveway. Guests staying 7 nights receive a 10% discount. Guests staying 28 nights or more receive a 20% discount. Please come visit!

This was our 2nd time staying here and our experience was just as enjoyable as the 1st. Its location to town and other areas we enjoy visiting is very convenient and the views from the back porch are amazing. Host is very responsive and friendly.

Great Astronomy Weekend

Father/son trip to do some astrophotography in Fort Davis’s dark skies. The house was very comfortable and the location was very dark. Communication with the owner was very smooth. I highly recommend!

Mountain View

Very clean and rustic setting. It was very close to the McDonald observatory and thus great to view a star party also very near many hiking opportunities. Wonderful stay.

Beautiful hideaway

We stayed at this beautiful location to explore west Texas - Big Bend, McDonald Observatory, and Ft. Davis. My daughter loved that we could see the observatory telescope domes from the house. Even though it is a bit further from Big Bend, it made for beautiful drives. We loved the amazing sunrises and sunsets. We had some tremendous thunderstorms come through, and even though it caused a couple of challenges, the host was extremely responsive. The issues were taken care of promptly and resolved.We absolutely plan on staying here again!

We stayed in the area after visiting Big Bend, the house was clean like new, spacious and had a view of the sunset that was stunning. Highly recommend a stay here. The hosts were very helpful and only a text away.

Family Spring Break in West Texas

This mountain home was a perfect getaway for our family on spring break with a 12-yr-old and 10-yr-old. The house was quiet, cozy and comfy. My wife and I enjoyed having multiple good locations to ease into the day with a cup of coffee beside the fireplace. The location was perfect for our afternoon and evening adventures — a star party at McDonald Onservatory, seeing the Marfa Lights, Horseback riding at Prude Ranch, visiting Kokernot Field, dining at Reata and several mountain hikes! What a memorable trip! Can’t wait to come back!

This place was just as advertised. Plenty of room. Fantastic view. Very peaceful. We were with a group camping at Ft Davis that were on spring break however we still had school. Perfect Escape

Lovely Stay in Beautiful Country

West Texas Vacation

This home was the perfect launching pad for our West Texas adventures and a comfortable place to return to at the end of the day. It was the perfect distance to the McDonald Observatory, a short drive to Balmorhea springs for swimming, and a day drive to Carlsbad Caverns. You can’t beat the back patio for coffee and star gazing. The home had everything we needed and was very clean.

Great place to stay in Fort Davis

My mom wanted to see the stars and boy did we! This property was fantastic with amazing views in the Davis Mountains and allowed us convenient lodging for the Star Party at the McDonald Observatory. The host was the most thoughtful and communicative host I have ever had through VRBO. A great place, highly recommend.

Great lising close to observatory

This listing is beautiful. Host is responsive and warm. It's only 10 min away to the observatory and 2 hours away to the Big Bend national park. The dark sky with stars are def the highlight of our stay!

Thanksgiving stay

This place is awesome! Over a five day visit, we only left once to visit the Davis Observatory - otherwise we were so content to sit and enjoy the quiet. The view from the rocker on the porch was peaceful with the sunsets brightly colored. The house was clean with everything we needed. We had a lovely time.

Perfection

My wife, kiddos, and in-laws had a fantastic 6 nights here. Views from the back patio were amazing and the pitch black sky made the stars even more spectacular. My kids loved playing chess and checkers and watching Netflix to unwind from hiking and horseback riding. I highly recommend this place if you want to get away from the city and breathe the clean fresh air.

Quaint and quiet with spectacular views

This property is ideally situated between the Davis Mountain State Park and the McDonald Observatory. It gives you the perfect home base to tour the observatory, attend a star gazing party and hike the numerous nearby trails. We all couldn't get over how dark and peaceful the valley was at night. In fact, we found ourselves whispering to each other while star gazing as to not disturb the blissful quiet. If you're looking for a the perfect Texas mountain this property is very hard to beat!

Best Rental EVER!

This property is by far the best vacation rental we have ever stayed at! The home is spotless! I was so happy (and relieved) to see how clean everything was. It was so nice stepping into such a beautiful, cozy & organized home. The property itself is amazing. The view are spectacular!! The owner is super kind and helpful! Everything is fully stocked - toilet paper, paper towels, sponges, trash bags, etc. You will not be disappointed!

Greta view and super close to McDonald Observatory

We spent 3 lovely nights here. The location is great, between the observatory and Davis Mountain State Park. The views are great from the house. The kitchen is fantastic as we cooked all our meals. The heater also works great which has not always been the caw in other houses in the hill country. The only linked issue is the master bath that doesn’t have a shower. The soaking tub’s slayer sis not work so we all shared the shower in the second bathroom. Not an issue to lower the rating though. If your smoking for a quiet place with no light pollution then this is your place.
