In another post, I said I was no longer posting eagles photos this year, well......I lied:) I just can't help myself. Along the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, this mature Bald Eagle was perched as two Canada Geese came cruising by it. I have never seen eagles go after geese, but it seems like it would be such an easy meal for them!

Today, fellow Trover member Stephanie Rickman and I got to visit several spots along the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge. We started out between Fulton, Il and Thompson, Il at a little place called Mickelson's Landing, which is a popular fishing spot. As we sat and waited for birds to fly by, this little American Mink just came swimming by and didn't seem bothered by us at all.
Many of the ducks have cleared out of the area near Lock and Dam 13 in Fulton, Illinois. So, I was very surprised to see this beautiful redhead. Even more surprising is that I was able to get close enough to take a photo!
