Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Staff was pleasant and helpful. There was a nice breakfast. The hotel is in a quiet area but we were able to walk to the attractions and the bus that we wanted.

It's a nice three stars hotel, a little bit old but comfortable and not far from the center of Funchal, so you will be at walking distance of almost everything. Breakfast was nice, and the hotel staff was friendly.

Central location, good for a few nights

I stayed two nights. I liked the location as it is central and I could walk to most sights and shops and restaurants. The hotel has a nice 360 degree rooftop and ok breakfast buffet. As most Portuguese hotels, the walls to the neighbouring rooms were ridiculously thin, which was very annoying as I had to listen to the neighbours conversations when trying to sleep.

For the location and price, this hotel was great. It is a budget hotel, I had to side step to fit into the bathroom (I’m 5’ 4” pretty small- can’t imagine someone bigger than me) and the AC didn’t work well. I ended up keeping my window open at night (I went in September). But the breakfast was great and the views from the restaurant & rooftop were stunning.

We spent one night at Hotel Orquidea. The space was clean and well-appointed. The staff was pleasant and were able to offer an excellent dinner recommendation. Easily walkable to several of Funchal’s attractions.

Great hotel for trip to Funchal

Well located hotel that offers a great selection at breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful Our room was spacious with a balcony All major sites and beach are within walking distance Lots of nice bars and restaurants close by

The hotel is very centrally located and within walking distance of many city attractions. However, the room was not nice and had no view. The breakfast was fine. In my opinion, the best thing about the hotel is definitely the location.

Rooms were clean. Staff very friendly. My only complain are the mattresses. They were a bit too hard. Other than than, it was a great stay. They offer breakfast which was amazing. The view from the roof top was beautiful.

Good food, great views from the rooftop restaurant and near the centre of Funchal so a great base from which to travel around. Not five stars as the hot water in the shower went from cold to hot very quickly. Other than that, cannot fault it.

Brilliant hotel

Stayed here on a weekend trip to Madeira. It is very centrally located just a few minutes walk to the main area of Funchal. Hotel was spotless, and breakfast was good. Exactly what i would expect from a 3 star hotel. We will stay here again.

We stayed here for the second time..our first stay was last year in december and we had a room at the back of the property facing the mountains and less street noise, this time it was very noisy at the front. The rest was great..buffet breakfast is plentiful and the staff is very friendly..

4 day solo stay

It was a pleasant stay, the room was very clean and comfortable the only disappointment was that there was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room or small refrigerator for drinks, I expect this now in every 3/4 star hotel I stay in as there was no facility for drinks as the machine in the lobby was not working during my stay !

Good value for money

Hotel location was excellent..staff was very nice... On the downside , there's construction happening right next to hotel so be prepared to hear noise starting at 8am. The reviews about the water temperature changes in the shower is still happening. The roof top terrace and location is what sold me on the room. Over all i would return and recommend it Breakfastbuffet has goodchoices.

Excellent

Lovely hotel, very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort and very good value for money. Hot shower, comfy beds and so clean and nice. The only draw back was very difficult to park (no parking at Hotel) and one very noisy breakfast member of staff slamming plates and cutlery eager to finish breakfast both mornings at service half an hour before the end of service. Made breakfast a bit uncomfortable. The rest was excellent and would definitely return. Lovely Hotel and lovely staff otherwise. Definitely worth a visit and look forward to returning.
