"There are many types of rooms/lodgings so check out the choices before booking. The place is quite nice and there are walking paths along the water. We didn’t know much about the room choices and booked two separate rooms to accommodate the varied time schedules of our travel companions. The only criticisms I have are that we were lodged a ways away from our friends and there are no community areas to get together to visit, play games/cards etc."

"Having gone to the same log building school as our host, I have to say: NICE! Ron, our teacher, would be proud. The warmth of a “true” log cabin cannot be matched. The kitchen is on the small and rustic side, but you have everything you will need. Suggest guests first find this place before it gets dark, but the drive up gives you that remarkable view. Thank you, Shawn and Ed, for sharing your beautiful mountaintop log cabin with us. Our time there created wonderful memories that we will treasure for years to come. A log cabin and Minnesota’s North Shore - it simply doesn’t get any better than that."

"Our weeklong stay with our 3 generation family was excellent. Communication was great. Checkin was easy. The place was absolutely beautiful. Exactly as shown in pics. Every bedroom had a view of Lake Superior. Everyone had their own space. The place was extremely well-equipped, so nobody had to haul a lot of extra equipment for young kids. The back yard was perfect for family gatherings around the fire with s'mores - and also for yard games. The deck overlooked the lake and was more than big enough that we grilled and ate many of our meals as a family out there. The walk down by the lake was short and relatively easy with the huge rocks along the shore. We even found a fairly protected cove that people could wade into to cool off. And the location was just a short drive from so many things - including unbelievable parks, hiking trails, waterfalls, winery and golf course. Would definitely recommend this for a stay and would definitely book again for a similar family trip!"

"I just cannot say enough good things about this rental. We’ve rented many homes and apartments over the years and this is hands down the best one we’ve stayed at. Beyond the amazing location and beautiful home, there were so many thoughtful touches and furnishings. There is a small herb garden on the deck for cooking, walking sticks and umbrellas at the entrance, record player, lanterns to carry from the house to the sauna, orange vests for walks during deer hunting season… they truly thought of everything. We bought food in Duluth and cooked at the lodge every night. The plentiful dishware and place settings made for such nice, cozy meals. When the BWCA fires were happening I emailed the owners for a status update and they were so helpful and mentioned that they had purchased additional air purifiers for the house to keep the inside air quality clean. We had the best stay— highly recommend!!"
