What you see before you has been hailed as one of the greatest losses in American architectural history. These are remnants of Whitemarsh Hall, 100,000 square feet, 6 stories (3 of which were partly or fully underground), 147 rooms, and 45 bathrooms built on 300 acres. It was built in 1921 and demolished in 1980. Now the estate has been subdivided into a development called Stotesbury Estates. An example of the townhouses now occupying the land can be seen in the background.
