Amenities were ideal with breakfast food items included plus a bottle of Prosecco and shortbread as a thoughtful Christmas gift. "The Grand is an elegant, gracious hotel filled with old world charm. The grand staircases and giant chandeliers harken back to the hotel's hey day a hundred years ago. The Grand has continued to maintain its grand and luxurious style today and i2 a joy to visit. The rooms were roomy and clean. There is a small fridge. The bathroom was spacious and there was room to put your things around the sink. The shower worked well. The room was supplied with tea and coffee bags and a kettle, but no coffee maker. You can get breakfast for an extra 14 pounds a day. The breakfast includes everything you could want, including hot items such as bacon, eggs, sausages, pancakes, etc. There is a coffee maker that makes cappuccinos, lattes, flat whites, and they are quite delicious. There is also a fitness room. This hotel is located quite close to the train station, which is convenient for visitors. The street is a little rough and scruffy. One gets the impression that the hotel has retained its grandeur while the neighborhood around it deteriorated over time. However, we did not have any bad experiences or problems related to the area and would recommend this hotel to anyone."

"Staff were extremely helpful and professional the whole time. Our room was very nice & clean but a bit worn - the carpet had a lot of marks, and a few things needed a bit of repair like a loose window. I'm a sensitive sleeper and unfortunately the curtains did not fully cover the windows which let in light from the lamps outside in the courtyard. We had treatments at the spa which were very nice, and the spa itself was well set up. We did have dinner in the restaurant but I think it was very overpriced for some not particularly well cooked food - for £28 I would expect some really delicious pork and not need to order chips as well to be fed. Therefore we decided not to have breakfast in the hotel. There was a wedding on at the time and it didn't disturb us at all, but I suspect it meant the staff were a bit stretched. We did walk around the grounds which were very nice!"

"The hotel grounds are lovely and it’s a good location but ideally need a car to get to and town. The rooms themselves are a little dated but spacious and comfortable. They were very clean but they are dark and need better lighting. We ate in the restaurant and my meal wasn’t the best but the breakfast was fresh and well stocked. The spa was clean and a nice addition but the men’s changing rooms were not great. The women’s changing rooms would be better with cubicles to change. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Overall a nice stay and would come back."
