Greyfriars was an interesting property. The hotel is on the main street, yet it felt contained, safe and quiet. The unit had plenty of room for 4 and the kitchen was well-stocked. There were chairs on a covered front porch that we shared with one other unit.
This is not a fancy hotel but it more than met our needs for an overnight stay. The room was clean and I felt safe. It’s a good property for travelers with children.
Ian and Michelle couldn’t have been more accommodating or friendly hosts.
They were good enough to allow us early check in, which was really helpful as we had perishable food in a cool box to put in the fridge.
Our room had a very comfortable bed, powerful shower and even a great iron!
The motel is very conveniently located to all the great shops that Greytown has to offer.
It also has a good sized car park which all rooms are close to.
Highly recommended.

Greyfriars is a really well located motel. Despite being on the main road, it is remarkably quiet, as it is set back from the street. It is only a moment’s walk from the shops and deli, and there is excellent parking. We booked a studio unit and had a very comfortable night. There was no sink in the kitchen, so it was a bit of a hassle doing dishes in the bathroom, but overall the unit was excellent and we would definitely stay again.
Lovely property manager! Pretty setting and very handy.
Coffee and tea making facilities - fridge but no sink except for the bathroom. That's my only criticism of a great place to stay.
Not very comfortable settee or chairs. Steel and useless cushions. Bed very comfortable. Good unit just a shame nowhere comfy to sit on evening.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Its well placed in the centre of Greytown. And it has a very good heat pump and a very comfy bed. However....it is not a comfortable or easy motel to be in. The couch and kitchen chairs are heavy steel framed very hard and uncomfortable furniture. And....there is no sink or water facility in the kitchen area. There is only a microwave which is so high (obviously put in by a man) that it is dangerous to get hot food out of. It dudnt seem very hygenic to be washing dishes in the bathroom sink where you wash your teeth and hands. This motel was not cheap $500 for 2 nights and in my opinion doesnt meet approved hygene standards re the lack of washing facilities.
Great price - friendly communication (especially when we informed them of our checkin time being later than they closed the office), room was ready, car park right outside, easy to find the motel, they had put the heater on for us, milk already in fridge, informed us of places to eat dinner that were still open as at our arrival time. Instantly knew this was a good choice to stay!
Electric blankets were a bonus but the heater warmed the room and bed up nicely. Comfortable dining chairs, good size table, comfy bed, good to have nets on the windows to avoid people staring straight in when we had the curtain open, shower was awesome (clean, good water pressure, good size). Bathroom well equipped, good size, nice to have dark coloured towels to avoid staining (from makeup etc) - toilet roll holder in the right place (in front instead of at the rear of toilet), soap, liquid wash or pump (great to have the choice). Well eqiupped kitchen - never had a room without a kitchen sink before, but for one night, it was okay.
Thanks for everything - and appreciate being able to leave our van in the car park while we got breakfast and shopped in the town centre.
