Doubletree by Hilton New York Times Square South
8/10 Good
"Arrived 11am and hotel kindly stores our luggage until check-in at 4pm. We arrived back and 3pm and our room was ready. Great room and lovely toiletries too. Rooftop terrace bar had amazing views and staff were fantastic. Our room was facing out onto Eighth Avenue and this was my only issue. We were 22nd floor and was so noisy all night with traffic, sirens, horns etc. if stayed again, would request room at back. Otherwise a great location beside Madison Square Gardens and Penn Station."

"I booked this hotel without reading much about it beforehand. Just before our trip, I happened to read some reviews mentioning homeless people gathering outside, weed sellers, etc., and honestly, I got quite scared—especially because we were four girls traveling together. My first impression of the hotel was definitely intimidating. There were homeless people gathered right outside the entrance, which made us a little nervous. However, the hotel had security right at the entrance. The security guard noticed that we were uncomfortable and actually followed us to the reception. He reassured us that there was nothing to worry about, as the hotel has 24-hour security and there is also an NYPD presence outside. Once we settled in, we felt much more comfortable. The location is excellent—right in the heart of Times Square and very close to all the major attractions. We got a clean room with an amazing view of the NYC skyline. We could even see EDGE, one of NYC's newer attractions, from our room, which was such a nice bonus! The hotel staff were also very helpful and accommodating. On the day we checked out, they even stored our luggage free of charge until midnight, which was incredibly convenient. Overall, the positive experience completely changed my initial impression. The things I had read in the reviews worried me beforehand, but in reality, the people gathered outside never bothered or disturbed us during our stay. As four girls on a NYC trip, we were understandably cau"

"Upon arrival we attempted to check in via the self service kiosk. Our room was not ready at 7:30pm, so we went to the service desk. The gentleman who assisted us was not super friendly, just seemed irritated with having to be at work. The elevator situation is horrible, there are three elevators with one operating at any time. We have to stand in a line to take it. Once in our room, it was a beautiful view. The room was okay, not the best cleaning. Candy on the floor and some chips in the paint on most furnishings. The temperature was very nice however. The bathroom lightbulb did not work. It’s a decent place however for the price not so much!"

"We went to check in a few hours early and they said if a room was available early, they would let us know. Just as the man at the desk was saying that, he saw a room had just opened up, so we got to check in around 12:30 when check in is normally 3 which was an amazing start. Our room was great and the balcony was a terrace which may have been an upgrade from what I originally booked. Regardless, it was a great stay."
