On arrival we tried all the contact numbers to check in. It took twenty minutes before we successfully got the details for the lockbox. Why couldn’t this instruction have been sent in advance? The room was well laid out and beautifully warm. However we did find a hair clump in the shower. I also didn’t appreciate another resident chain smoking in the stairwell with the smell trying to permeate the room but had no faith in contacting a provided telephone number. The breakfast was continental and sufficient but with an option to pay for a cooked meal offered (I think the price was advertised in some materials in the bedroom). I didn’t see water on offer, so just grabbed some juice. Selection of teas available. Christmas music at the start of November? Bold choice!

Our stay

Our stay was very enjoyable. The bedding was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The welcome tray was filled with tea, coffees, biscuits & milk. The bathroom was very clean, shower gels provided and the towels were soft and very clean. The continental breakfast was plentiful and there was the option of having a full cooked breakfast too. We were greeted by very polite and friendly people.

Other than the check in, as the door bell didn’t work and we didn’t have a UK sim, it was a great stay. Very clean, very nice room, good breakfast. Highly recommend.

A nice place to stay

This is a lovely venue in which to stay, The surroundings are beautiful and although the rather uninspiring town of Hemel Hempstead is just a short drive away, the chilterns are equally close. Breakfast is good and the staff are really nice and helpful.

Well run independent B&B

Well run B&B. Friendly staff, clean room with plenty of refreshments. My included Continental breakfast was perfect . Large fee car parking area also a bonus. Would not hesitate to stay at Boxmoor Lodge if working in the area again.

Excellent value and friendly staff

Good "motel" style establishment. Their full breakfast is worth the extra cost; but it's not available on Mondays, which are often our day of departure when we could use it most. Very convenient for Hemel train station. The staff as usual were very friendly and responsive
