We have had a huge snow year down in the southern Rockies. The high country is buried in snow. But at the mid elevations in the Hesperus area near Durango Colorado the effects of the increased moisture can be seen quite clearly. The lupines and mules ears are blooming amazing at the moment.

La Plata Canyon to the west of Durango CO excellent location for a spot of cross country skiing in the winter and mountain solitude in the summer. With the outstanding cuisine of the Kennebec Cafe at the junction and Hesperus Ski hill is a locals favorite with night skiing two to three nights a week.
