My fiancé and I stayed at Little Haven (D) for 9 nights, through the 4th of July weekend, along with our pet dog. The location is truly great, minutes away from all of the major highlights including Sandy Hook, local restaurants, and the local ferries. The home itself is very modest, but has all of the essentials. What really makes the place worth it is the semi-private beach access via the yard. Robert, the host, was nice and very responsive. Had a great vacation overall and will certainly consider staying here again in the future.
Robert was a great host and quickly responded to any questions. The bungalow needs some upkeep but was fairly clean and had all the essentials we needed. The property could also be cleaned up and improved, but if you don’t care about fancy, it will suit you well. We loved that many places were within walking distance. We had some of the Best Pizza ever at Franny’s Pizza (went twice) and amazing seafood at Bahr’s. Be sure to visit Sandy Hook Island if you’re visiting Highlands!
We had a wonderful vacation. It was myself, my daughter and my 2 granddaughters.

The neighborhood we stayed in in the Highlands was wonderful. This little cottage would be great with some TLC. It needs a little updating and the entire property needs to be cleaned up... which would go a long way in making this a much more charming place to stay.
My girls (7 & 10) and I had a fantastic stay again. Everything was seamless - Rob is a great host. The kiddos are already asking me when we're coming again!
Stayed with my three kids, 6,9 & 13, for a long weekend. Could not have had a better overall experience!

The owner is very nice and pleasant. This property has great potential. However, a little maintenance would go a long way. It would be a major improvement if the back yard area was cleared of debris, broken items and weedeated.
This cottage needs serious attention. No place to hang coats or towels. No room to prepare food. Microwave is on top of fridge. Ceilings are peeling. There are hooks at top of bathroom door but are over 7 feet from floor. We couldn’t reach. Parking was at a premium. Our last night we got the last spot in the public parking lot at the end of the street. The floor was unbelievably cold. Sleeps 5 but only four chairs to eat but really no place to slice, chop and dice. Coffee and toast is practical though. Coffee maker should be one that has automatic shut off for safety. Location is awesome. Our daughter lives a block away.
House was clean. The private beach is right out the back door. Short walks or drive to everything you need. it was 4 girls and we had no problems getting around and going for walks at night. We spent out days floating in our rafts in the bay. Lots of boats go by so its nice to watch, but the was the shore is and the docks we had more then enough room. We did have a small issue with the house and it was immediately taken care of. We plan to return. Awesome value for the money.

I would rate this property a Two. Do not book if you are handicapped!! There is a broken down wooden walkway from the street to the cottage, There is NO living room , If you want to watch TV, you have to sit on the bed ,which is a full size. If you are big there is no room for you and your wife. The beach is not right out your door, it is a good distance from the house Not worth the Money!!!!~
My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend to get away from NYC for a bit, and it was perfect for that purpose. The house is right near a main drag of restaurants and stores, so driving wasn’t necessary. Rob was great, and the beach was a great sight
The place was great for a couple (or small family). We had a blast on bay beach and use of kayaks. Easy getting in and out and communication with the home owner.
This is a great place for a cozy beach getaway! Bungalow had everything we needed, including kitchen essentials. Rob was a great host, very welcoming and gracious, easy to get ahold of and extremely accommodating!
The sandy backyard has grills, fire pits, and many beach essentials to use - kayaks, surfboards, beach toys, etc. Also, may options to sit and eat or just relax! Backyard leads to a private, locally shared beach on the Bay side with great views. In NJ, it is nice and rare to be able to relax on a beach shared with very few people.
Location is withing walking distance to some good restaurants, and very close to Sandy Hook Park (park pass was included!). Dog friendly location which is great! We played with Rob's dog as well.
Thank you for our wonderful relaxing vacation!
Big sandy backyard that leads to beach. On bay side, perfect for kids, even the 1 year old. You can walk to a selection of restaurants if you don't want to cook. Kitchen nicely stocked.
We had a relaxing, fun week in Highlands. The bungalow had everything and more. We had our morning coffee and evening drinks on the beach with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. A pass for Sandy Hook Island was included which we loved! Our dog was welcomed and he was very happy and comfortable! The beach was quiet and the scenery was beautiful. The owner was extremely accommodating and easy to get in touch with.
This was our second stay at Little Haven. This time we stayed in the front unit. It was exactly as described and the whole experience was good. We will likely stay again.
Such an amazing time at this adorable, timeless cozy Shore cottage. A bit of magic with it’s own shared cove, sandy beach- with views of Sandy Hook. Access to kayaks and surfboards. Pet friendly! Walking distance to some local restaurants and bars, bakery. Great location fir biking shore towns.
We had a great time staying 2 weeks in Robert's bungalow. It is such a nice location, with Sandy Hook just minutes away, by car, by bike or by Kayak. But we also spend much time just at the private beach, our kids learned to kayak in Robert's kayaks. It was great to have those, since rentals usually won't let kids use a one-person kayak.
The bungalow is small, but had all we needed, from kitchen and barbecue tools to high chair and card games. The newly build deck as an outdoor dining room and the sand right next to the bungalow for kids to play were a very welcome extension, we spend much time outdoors.
Robert is great host, very accommodating and always helpful. It was nice to chat with him once in a while, too, and to learn a little about this old place.
