Lake front chalet-incredible view, sleeps 12!
Yes, you did! If you’re looking for the perfect little spot on the Lake for your next family vacation, you’ve just found it! This charming Lakefront chalet is fully stocked and can easily accommodate three families. It sleeps 12 people comfortably on two floors. It has an open living area with a cozy fireplace, an updated kitchen with an island, and everything you'll need for your stay: refrigerator, gas range and oven, coffee maker, espresso machine, coffee grinder, toaster, microwave, waffle maker, pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes, and silverware. You'll have your own private beach with pier access to enjoy during the summer months. It’s an ideal ski/snowboard chalet during the winter, located just north of Homewood Ski Resort – the best kept secret among local skiers.
OLYMPIC HISTORY: This beach house was the official residence of the Swedish Olympic Ski Team during the 1960 Olympic Games. A memorial plaque is proudly posted near the kitchen. My parents came from Greece, birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, it warms my heart to share this with you! ♥
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION: This adorable beach house is located in a great spot on the west shore of Lake Tahoe – “west shore, best shore” is what the locals say. The deck is perfect for spectacular views of the big blue Lake. Yes, that’s Nevada across the water to the east, and you’ll watch dazzling shows in the morning and the evening as you enjoy both the sun and the moon gloriously rising for your viewing pleasure from the front deck or large windows. In the evening, the sky and the Lake turn pink – that’s the time to take your photos out on the deck, on the beach, or on the pier! When you look south, you’ll see the ski paths at Heavenly Ski Resort, and to the north you’ll see Kings Beach and Incline Village. Keep your eyes open in the evening, as we are often treated to random fireworks at various points around the Lake at any given time! During 4th of July, hit the pier early with beach chairs, jackets, and flashlights – you’ll be treated to at least 5 different fireworks shows happening all around the Lake – what a treat!
PRIVATE BEACH, SHARED PIER, BIKE/FOOT PATH: Right across the street is the private beach that is part of this property. We have a couple of beach chairs for you, and you might want to bring your water shoes. Tahoe City has plenty of beach gear options for you if you forgot to pack something. You’ll see the bike/foot path that runs parallel to the street on the Lake side – either way you take on this path is a stunning, refreshing, and exhilarating excursion. This home is located 3.75 miles south of Tahoe City where restaurants, shopping, the movie theater, and other activities can be found. And Obexer’s Marina is 2.5 miles south where you can launch your boat or rent sailboats and jet skis. While we have a few of bicycles for you to enjoy (1 adult, 2 kid), if that’s not enough, the Olympic Bike Shop in Tahoe City and West Shore Sports in Homewood both have rentals of all kinds – call ahead, bring your helmets. You’ll have access to the shared HOA Skyland pier which is locked and gated for you and your guests to soak up the sun, snap amazing photos, or jump in the lake.
INSIDE THE BEACH HOUSE: Every bedroom has a view of the Lake. As you enter the beach house, you’ll be greeted by the dining area on your left, the living room on your right, and the newly remodeled kitchen in front of you. Next to the kitchen is a bathroom, and just past it you’ll find the only bedroom located downstairs with a queen bed. Up the stairs on the right you’ll find 2 bedrooms. The first bedroom has a full-sized bed, and this room connects to another bedroom we call “the submarine” with 4 twin beds. The submarine is a favorite with the kids. The 2 bottom beds pull out and create a fun little cozy cave-like spot all the kids enjoy! At the top of the stairs is a bathroom. Up the stairs and to the left you’ll find 2 more bedrooms - the main bedroom and a sunlit room with 2 twin beds. The beautiful main bedroom has a queen bed, 3 large, picture windows, its own large bathroom, and a walk-in closet.
There is wireless Internet for you in this home. Your pets are welcome with prior written approval at $50/night per-pet fee. The circular driveway can accommodate 4 cars, depending on the size. Be sure to empty your car completely – do not leave any food wrappers inside. The bears will break into your car for your delicious trash.
Plan to layer your clothes. It can be very warm during the day and chilly at night. Water bottles are a must, it’s easy to get dehydrated. The closest ER is 18 miles north in Truckee.
Please know that highways, access roads, and our driveway can be steep, which is common in the mountainous Lake Tahoe area and can be icy in the winter. In order to ensure your safety, it is critical that during November 1st - April 30th your vehicle must be in excellent operating condition. Check your brakes, windshield wipers & fluid, defroster, heater, and exhaust system. Your tires need to be properly inflated, and the tread must be in great shape. Always carry tire chains, even if driving an AWD/4WD vehicle - unless you have a 4WD vehicle with snow-tires. Make sure the chains are the proper size for your tires and are in working order. You can find winter driving guidance from the CHP here: https://www.chp.ca.gov/programs-services/services-information/winter-driving-tips
We practice Covid cleaning precautions before you arrive. Some road noise should be expected.
CAUTION: Our home is on West Lake Blvd. which is the main road running along the West Shore. Please exercise extreme caution with your pets and small children. We have gates on the deck, be sure to keep them closed when small children and pets are out there with you. Even the most well-behaved dogs can be tempted to run across the street to greet other dogs on the bike/foot path.

Beautiful property with gorgeous lake views. Easy access to beach and walking trails. Dog friendly and great communication along the way. It was perfect for our whole family to get together and enjoy the lake together. Had everything you need for a getaway.
Excellent and responsive communications with the host. The property is centrally located with lakeside view. Older 2 story home with steep staircases for entry access and interior 2nd floor bedrooms. Master bedroom bathroom is spacious. All other bathrooms are small but functional. The kitchen is well equipped with flatware, utensils and cookware.
Wonderful place to stay, the place is beautiful with amazing views! The owner was fantastic and always available and prompt for any need. Will definately be back!
We loved coming back to this amazing property on the lakefront. Mailana is an outstanding host and the property is fantastic!
Property is well equipped and is placed nicely on the North West side of the lake, within easy reach of great restaurants and stores at Tahoe City. Fantastic hike and beaches near by - lake is right across the road!!
The views were awesome, the lake was awesome, the hosts were super nice and accommodating- they even provide paddleboards and water floaties! We had a large group and cooked a lot of meals-the kitchen was perfect. The large table was great for dining and playing board games and poker in the evening, after retiring from the patio once the sun went down.
This house has a lot of charm and is in a nice location. The floors could use a good mopping and there is no AC but the private beach across the street was nice (albeit small) and the house was fully stocked. The host was quick to respond and provided us with very thorough instructions for our stay. Would recommend!
The entire family truly loved this location and the accommodation everything was so nice. All the beds were comfortable and clean as were the bathrooms. The house came complete with all the necessities including TV and internet plus card & Games also paddle boards also a outdoor grill with a table and lounge furniture. It was a delightful stay.
Perfect location on the lake. Beautiful views from virtually every room. Enjoyed taking a morning plunge into the lake off the pier every morning. Great proximity to kayak rental and local deli in Tahoe city. Could not have asked for more! Thank you Mailana!
The house is large but cozy. The view over the lake is amazing. Half our tribe went snowboarding at Palisades and the rest of us stayed in and watched the snow accumulate, and boy did it. Very good communication with owner. We had a great time. Because there were 10 of us, a few more comfy chairs or beanbags in the living room would be nice. Snowplow for driveway was much appreciated. Overall, a great place to stay!
We had a wonderful stay, the owner was extremely communicative and having use of the community dock across the street was a big plus. Everyone we spoke with while using the dock were extremely friendly and helpful. Having a bike path across the street was also a big plus. Meeks Bay is a short drive away so we booked a campsite to have easy access to a kid friendly sandy beautiful beach—it was perfect!
This home was perfect for the 12 of us! We had plenty of room to either relax on the couches or play games at the table.
The unobstructed view out over the lake was stunning and peaceful and had a nice walking path along the lake. We were only 25 - 30 minutes from Boreal and Diamond Peak.
The view and location alone is worth booking! The house was perfect layout for 10 women celebrating a birthday. Bedrooms were spacious and the view from every room was incredible. We spent tons of time outdoors on the deck. The kitchen was perfect we even hosted a private dinner on the patio with a chef one night. Highly recommend. Host communication was incredible and very responsive. We had a minor issues with the speaker system but it was only because our phones no longer had headphone jacks to be able to connect. I truly hope we are able to return and visit again, I would book this same house every time if I could!
We had an amazing time in West Tahoe with family. The location was perfect. There was plenty of room for my family. ( 7 adults and pups) The views were breathtaking! The "open concept " was perfect to gather. The deck had ample room for all of us to sit with our morning coffee and enjoy the lake view. The walking path is right across the street that leads through trees and visit creeks in the area. The beach right across was perfect for swimming and kayaking. We spent many days there. We didn't use the dock but it is easily accessible. It is a quiet relaxing location. Can't say enough about our wonderful stay! The host was amazing. She corresponded quickly and made us feel at home! Can't wait to go back!
Overall our stay was very comfortable. The house had pretty much everything we needed to enjoy the home as well as lake. The rooms were comfortable and nicely put together. Had plenty of extra linens all throughout the home. The home itself could have been cleaned much better. The floors did get mopped but not well at all. (We arrived as the housekeeper was leaving) If this were my home I would definitely hire a new housekeeper. Not sure how often the owners visit the property but it does needs more attention as it is quite disorganized. However it is a beautiful home and we would book again in the future.
The property was mostly beautiful and had an amazing view. However, there is a road between the house and lake (which is not evident in the description of the home). This alone would not be a huge problem, but the road is consistently busy, which made it difficult to cross and constantly noisy when on the patio.
I also do not think that the beach and pier should be described as "private" A more accurate description would be "shared" and there were a lot of homes "sharing" them. A final comment, the kitchen was chaotic and unorganized to the point that it was difficult and annoying locating anything.

I always want to start with a positive so here it is. Yes the view is beautiful! The sunrise was absolutely gorgeous and can see it from our bedroom. The communication and checking in was great. Easy to get a hold of and inform when the dishwasher was broken. With that being said, I’m sorry to say the place needs a desperate facelift. The kitchen look like my grandchildren had put away all the dishes after playing with them. The drawers were a mess. Nothing was organized, except maybe glasses in upper cupboards. The furniture look like it had just been brought inside from sitting outside for months. Materials were very faded. The master bath was the only bath that was big enough to use and very nice but the other baths were so small! Downstairs in the basement where the washer dryer was was a complete disaster. Things were thrown down there and just left. Same with outside along the side of the house. Trash just laying on the ground. This home could be a very nice rental if someone went in and thoroughly cleaned up inside and out. Remodel The bathrooms is a must.
My cousin and I stayed at Malaina’s Homewood home in Sept 2024. Even after four days in the home, we could not get over the spectacular view of the lake from the downstairs living areas, the upstairs bedrooms and of course the large deck. The kitchen was nicely updated and no well equipped with dishes and appliances. Note: Fridge is cleared out so guests do need to bring in spices, condiments, etc.
Beds and bedding were nice and comfortable.
Master bath is updated and lovely. The other two baths are small and of older style, but functional.
The basement is loaded with outdoor gear for guest use. The property is not fenced. There is a nice path behind the property for a short forestry walk. We did hear coyotes back there, so beware if walking a d. The walking path along shoreline is spectacular either direction. The dock was a nice perk to walk out onto and enjoy the view.
Our only complaints were: (1) the very important gate to secure our dog on the deck was broken. The road below is quite busy with fast traffic so it is imperative that the gate be closed to keep children and pets safe. We mentioned the broken gate to Melaina, who replied quickly that her handyman would come the next next day, but he did not show up. Then it rained the next day, so it never got fixed for our trip which made coming and going a bit of a hassle.(2) The place could use a deep cleaning. The floors were dirty, even though they look clean, and the baseboards, and some doors and walls need cleaning.
