Can highly recommend The Maynard, super friendly staff, great location and excellent dining options. We enjoyed walking in the area…Hope to be back soon!
Clean, friendly, evening meal excellent.
Would have preferred a two course breakfast, ie cereal followed by cooked breakfast including toast to finish rather than just cooked or just cold continental one.

The hotel itself is lovely though we were disappointed with our room (the Barnett) which had the kitchen fans directly outside so noisy till 9pm then started again at 7am. We asked for another room but nothing but a dark dreary one was available on the main road. The restaurant and bar is nice and the breakfast was good.
Great value for money in a lovely location. Service was excellent throughout our stay. Food was of a very high quality. The accommodation seemed new and nicely designed. All in all a great place to stay!
Room was very comfortable with lovely decor and finishing touches. Pillows werent the best but bed was very comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly . The food was also very good . Overall excellent value for money . Would definitely return.
Comfortable stylish boutique country hotel- accommodated three friends in family room . Lovely walks on the doorstep. Tasty meals, spacious public areas. Parking on site.
Super 2 days in a great spot.
Delicious breakfast and we ate at the hotel both evenings. Good choice of food. Averagely priced. Comfortable room but pillows a bit too firm for me.
Very pleasant and attentive staff

Really great hotel in a perfect location...
Our room was perfect, clean, large & well furnished. Bed, linen & towels all freshly laundered. Evening meal was well presented with lovely fresh local products. The menu and choices were very varied. ( Maybe not too much choice if you dont eat red meat. ) The dining room is well set out and in the summer months
would be lovely to be able to sit outside ( we visited January 2026 ) The breakfast menu was equally charming and a difficult decision as what to order. The food was presented perfectly and tasted devine. Perfect presentation and all staff friendly, helpful and professional. So many pictures, painting and photographs on the walls, the lighting was amazing, the decorating and maintenace kept to a high standard. Walking around it could easily be mistaken for a private collection of effects... we didnt use or order from the bar. It was very busy and seats and tables were busy busy with families, hikers & guests of the hotel Would defo stay again. A beautiful part of England.
We found the staff exceedingly polite and helpful. Our suitcase was carried to the second floor for us and our problem with the TV was looked into immediately. The room was large and beautifully appointed with an excellent view over the garden and the valley. We were impressed by the evening dinner and had high hopes for breakfast. That night we felt we had made a good choice of hotel and were seriously contemplating booking into one of the sister hotels in the future.
These plans are now on hold as we found that the breakfast offer was rather on the mean side and when I mentioned this at checkout I was told that that was a company decision. I appreciate that the breakfast was included in the room price and the menu had a reasonable choice of hot meals however, there was no fruit, yoghurt, cereal, bread/toast jam let alone pastries on offer. These little touches make for a full breakfast experience and were what we had expected and have always found in most hotels and certainly in a hotel of this quality. It may seem a small issues but for us it is a deal breaker.
Such a lovely hotel and a great place for a relaxing stay. Our room was surprisingly large for three of us and was lovely and clean and had everything we could need. Really thoughtful and unusual decor really added to the whole hotel and the restaurant was lonely. Great food and a particularly friendly waiter.
If you are looking for a break from the boring chain hotels and some fab food and service then it’s for you.

Beautifully located and well kept old school Manor House brough up to speed.
Fantastic staff that couldn’t do enough for you. Really enjoyed my stay and for sure will be back
What a fabulous place to stay. Superb location, extremely polite staff. We both enjoyed a lovely evening meal together and the breakfast was the best in along time which is local sourced. The room was fantastic with a view to remember- rolling countryside. Highly recommended and will come stay again
Great location in a lovely little village perfect for the Peak District.
Room was comfortable.
Staff lovely, likewise food.
Little pricey relative to similar hotels.

Bed was hard for me but everything else was good left before breakfast
Very comfortable room. The first night a little warm but after turning the heating down better the 2nd. Very good water pressure in the shower and good toiletries (white company) Ate both nights of our stay and the food was very good. Staff where very good through out the hotel but it was a little frustrating when our dessert arrived without any cutlery and it took 5 mins before they noticed. Good location for Chatsworth and other local attractions.
Would stay here again.
