Amazing condition for a youth hostel. Friendly helpful staff. Very busy due to rugby tournament finals. Big kitchen for self service meals. Quiet neighborhood. Easy 30 min walk to downtown
The hostel was located close to the nearest grocery store, so that was convenient, but it's a bit of a walk from the train station if you're planning to carry lots of luggage. The single room was adequate, but very basic. The kitchen was very good, although the system of tagging food was different (I've been to hostels where they provide baskets that you tag with your food, not tagging every single item).
We stayed at Inverness for a few nights and happy with private room, kitchen/dining facilities and laundry. But honestly our highlight was George the cat. If only every accommodation had a resident cat the world would be a far better place.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Good for the price and location! I never trust dark linens that can’t be bleached tho
The hostel was very convenient, even more convenient than it looked on the map. There were cafes and chemists within walkign distance and the train & bus stations were a 15 minute walk away. It was lovely to talk with other guests and the staff (shout out to Luna and all the staff for the directions, and friendliness). I booked a private room with ensuite, and am happy to say the shower was very powerful and the room clean and spacious. I would definitely come back.

Meh
The staff was curt, the beds like cardboard over springs. The place is clean, though the women’s lab was out of toilet paper in two stalls an entire day. Rooms are quite crowded.
Property allowed flexible check in due to delays in our trip. Booking was most likely mixed up with another as original booking was for 2 females in double bed booking. Check in receipt listed 2 males for one bed for occupancy of 2. Property location was what we were looking for along our journey traveling.
We were very impressed by our stay here. It was very nice to have access to the kitchen for our dinner and they had a very nicely priced breakfast available for us in the morning, which was extra nice because we needed to leave early. I would say that the location is "kind of" walkable. You definitely can walk to a grocery store and some restaurants, but it was a bit further than would strictly be called convenient. It was a nice walk though! The neighborhood is very nice and there are sidewalks the whole way. The room was great, the beds were comfortable, the shower was hot, and it was just what we needed!
Surprised by the single bed in the dorm. I don’t have to have anyone sleeping above me. Barely any plug sockets - was two by the door for a room of 4 people. The bedside lamp was very loud.
You can tell the hostel has been around a while but still clean and friendly staff. Big communal kitchen and lots of seating. Would recommend again.
A very dated looking building much in need of re-decoration. Despite that a friendly welcome and facilities adequate. However the room had not been cleaned with any care or attention. A very bad image for overseas guests to Scotland and SYHA should be ashamed. I do not mean their hard working staff but the head office who allow such shabiness I doubt they ewould recommend the place.
