I spent a whole day just on this beach on the Isle of Eigg. It is truly a geology and a photography paradise. We were lucky to have a day full of sun and times shade that highlighted the landscape and it's incredible features. You can get here via a ferry from Mallaig and can rent a bike from the port or take a good hike across the Isle. These are pools formed by little rivers coming down from the mountain into the ocean. #lifeatexpedia #scotland #scotland #lifeatexpedia

Limpets are herbivorous marine snails with an amazing conical she'll that live along the rocky shores. Here they are on top of some Lichen, Lichen is made up of two living things, algae and fungi, which live together in a symbiotic relationship. The definition of this is a close and long term interaction between different biological species, which is mutually beneficial to both. The fungus does its bit by retaining water which protects the alga, which can only live in wet conditions. The alga is photosynthetic, meaning, like a plant, it can turn carbon dioxide in to sugars, which feeds both the alga and the fungus.
