Disappointed With the Basement Room We were disappointed with the room we were given at The White Orient Hotel in Istanbul. Our room was located in the basement, with essentially no view and very little sense of being in a normal hotel room. The location of the room also made it quite noisy. We could hear activity around the hotel entrance as people came and went, as well as noise from the street. Cigarette smoke around the entrance was another problem, especially because our basement room was so close to that area. The hotel should make it very clear during booking when a guest is being assigned a basement-level room. Had we known in advance that the room would be below street level, without a view and exposed to entrance, street, and smoking-related disturbances, we would have selected a different room or hotel. For future travelers, I strongly recommend confirming before arrival that your room is on an upper floor and not in the basement.

Great value for a super hotel with amazing staff

A very solid choice in the midst of Taksim's hotel district...but nicely removed down a small side-street for peace and quiet. Easy walk to/from the airport bus, and always the friendliest of staff on every visit - this was a return for us, and it felt like a home-from-home in Istanbul. The breakfast offers great choice for a small hotel, and the mattresses were comfy, wifi fast and free, and the price is right. Highly recommended!

I have booked this hotel for new year. The services are pathetic. They gave us the room in basement (such thing was not mentioned anywhere in our booking). The rooms were not clean, bed sheets were stained and washroom was stinky. The duvet cover was also uncleaned and smelly. I picked 3 hair from bed. Its not a good area for a family, saw fee hookers too. The payment was non-refundable otherwise I would have booked some other place. Not recommended at all!
