Hawk Mountain is one of my favorite locations near my parents' home. If you enjoy walking, hiking, beautiful views, birds, and maybe a little scrambling over rocks, Hawk Mountain is a must-see.

I have tried to visit Hawk Mountain every fall--which is the migration period for a lot of hawks and eagles--so that I can climb to the top in the not-too-warm weather and overlook the region. It's absolutely beautiful.

Be sure to bring snacks and water! You are literally in the sticks when you go on these hikes and it's not easy to just "run back to the car."

Easy gravel trail. Great for entire family, but steep incline. There’s a harder trail option equipped with some boulders to climb up for those who like the challenge. Dogs welcome.

Crystal Cave is in Kutztown PA. This cave has so many stilagties and stilagmites and is really interesting to explore. You have to pay to get in but it's great. I've been there 3 or 4 times over the past 30 years and it doesn't change. It's cool dampish but not moldy.
