The Burren National Park is one of Ireland's most interesting wildlife sites. Although it appears barren, the patches of soil are very fertile and create favourable conditions for a great variety of specialist plants to thrive. It has stunning insect diversity by Irish standards. A very unusual landscape which holds many surprises for the adventurous hiker. #NationalPark
Lough Gealán, with Mullach Mor as a backdrop, forms the heart of the Burren National Park. This is karst landscape at its best, and is of inordinate conservation value. The landscape is strange, the longer you spend in it, the more captivated you become. I lived here for seven years, and still regard it as the most wonderful part of Ireland. #NationalPark
