I extended my stay

This is a great homestay. The place is clean, walking distance to the sights in Fort Cochin, budget food options, and the local bus to/from the airport. The owners are welcoming and happy to help. The neighbourhood is local, friendly, and safe to walk around day or night. The wifi works, even in the room. There is a nice rooftop to lounging around. This place is a great option.

great location of a friendly homestay

Just spent a week at Elim Homestay. The best thing about your stay here is the great hospitality of the host George. He goes out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. He organised a taxi to pick us up at the airport and allowed us to check in to our rooms as soon as we arrived. He would ask us every day if we needed help or assistance and was always on hand to offer suggestions on how to get the best out of the local area. Thanks George.

Below Average place

The Good: The guy at the desk was pretty helpful and the location is perfect. The room was clean enough but a few stains on the sheets and mosquitoes in the room too. One of the cheaper options. The Bad: no comforter and extremely small sheets to cover you with. Exactly 2 small towels. Would have been nice if there were more smaller towels or hand napkins. No bathrug, no toilet paper. No hot water- we had to inform first after which we got about 10 mins of warm water. The guy said that their breakfast wasn’t good and told us to have it outside. However, in the morning I saw him sitting with some foreigners having breakfast.(I wonder if he told them the same too)

I do not like hidden costs. I paid for a room with airco but the owner refused to give me the remote unless I paid more. You could get a free bible though. Do not really like the religious hypocrisy, while you rip off tourists without blinking an eye.

Une bonne adresse à retenir

L’hôtel est situé à environ 15mn du bord de mer où sont concentrés bon nombre d’échoppes en tout genre. C'est une bâtisse sobre avec de belles et grandes chambres. Ce qui nous a plu c'est l'accueil des propriétaires, leur disponibilité et leur gentillesse. Un bon rapport qualité prix.

I booked a stay here at short notice as I was traveling into Kochi by train. Bittu was there to welcome me and showed me straight to my room such was great after a 12+ hour train trip! The room was cosy, the bed comfortable, also with a tv, cupboards and attached bathroom. It's a short walk into the main area where you can go to the beach, restaurants or check out the local attractions. There's also a rickshaw stand nearby. They also helped me to organise a backwater trip which was great. Bittu was always available if help or suggestions were required, and he's very enthusiastic about promoting the local area and other places of interest within Kerala. Would love to come back asap!

Friendly staff, big room but some minor setbacks.

PRO'S *microwave and fridge *big bed, slightly too hard but VERY SOFT FOR INDIA *very friendly and helpful staff *rooftop terrace *close to attractions *thousands of channels on the TV *lots of storage in beautiful wooden lacker cabinets *water filtered through ceramic unit in the pentry *doors to kitchen and bathroom CON'S *no daily cleaning of the room and dirty in drawers *flimsy electricity with occasional power outage *power outlet too big or small for ANYTHING to fit including adapters (must be a construction error, had to FORCE the TV cable HARD with creaking noises) *FRIDGE TURNS OFF WHEN YOU LEAVE THE ROOM!!! useless, in other words. fridge is loud.. *no ac in bathroom making it humid, no plastic bags or lids in bins (this is disgusting since you don't throw toilet paper in the toilet in India making it smell bad very quick) *no proper sheets for the blanket *completely dark room, window has black mozzy nets and thick foliage outside the iron barred window *no utensils in pentry. ask reception for what you need This place is all and all very decent for a budget accommodation in India. Friendly staff makes it all worth while!

Lungt och stilla nära centrala Fort Cochin

Hade tänkt stanna tre nätter, men det blev åtta. Stort och rent rum med AC. Hotellet ligger på en lugn bakgata, drygt 10 minuters promenad ifrån de centrala delarna av Fort Cochin. För att nå de finast, renaste och folktomma stränderna kan man ta buss/färja, taxi eller tuk-tuk.
