"Very convenient location near Kyoto station just few minutes walk, great breakfast , hotel provides good face mask but they need to improve the pillow, it’s really hard and uncomfortable "

"Nice location close to downtown area and close to transportation. Quiet with very nice common areas, amenities and friendly staff. The AC in the room could not keep the room cool and the room was very cozy, so that was a surprise. "

"Cool ‘Japanese’ style room with separate entrance, tatami mat etc. Room is a little cuttered so feels small; hotel is pretty western. Hotel spa requires guests to cover up tattoos according to the rules. They sell coverup stickers for ¥200c but for anything other than a small tattoo you’ll need a LOT of them. Guests in the spa didn’t actually care about the presence of tattoos, however….."

"I loved the location. As soon we step out of the hotel we were in the middle of Nishiki Market and all the amazing food this place had to offer. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They even help me retrieve an item that I had left in Osaka. They were able to have it delivered to the hotel in one day. What was tricky about this location was finding the entrance upon arrival. The entrance is in an alley and not in the Main Street, which was confusing at first. But not a major inconvenience....

"Perfect spot for our stay in Kyoto. Two train stations nearby and we were surprised how many places were within walking distance. Rooms were big enough for us and our suitcases. Staff were super friendly and helpful"

"Hotel Monterey is very close to a train station which made it super convenient as my family of four each had a carry bag plus backpack. Train station is only a couple minutes away. Hotel has a great mineral pool and sauna for guests to use that I was not aware of, so it was a really nice surprise. Kyoto was our favorite town on our trip. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. The detox water was very nice in the afternoons and you also get a free adult beverage in the spa lounge...
