"Great location and friendly staff. It is close to lots of restaurants, and the metro is within walking distance. I appreciated that I could get where I needed to on the metro without making many stops, so the location feels more central than the last hotel I stayed at. I didn't discover the beautiful walking path along the canal until the last day, and I found even more places to explore. The rooms were cleaned every day, which was nice. Our room had a cigarette smoke smell, so I should've asked to switch rooms, but that's on me. We ordered the packaged breakfast one morning; it was OK. There is a clean, delicious wonton-and-dumpling restaurant a few meters from the hotel, so we ate there for most of our breakfasts. Lots of food options available. I will definitely book with this hotel again if I am in Shanghai. Great value and location overall."

"Customer service was attentive and helpful. We are used to more modern hotels, and this one is a bit dated so we recommend upgrading the room ahead of your stay if you are going during a busy season. The amenities were a pleasant surprise and the main reason we’d come back. The gym was small but very well equipped with various cardio and weight machines, a separate stretch/yoga/pilates area and even a punching bag and pads for boxing/martial arts. They also offered free classes throughout the week. The men’s and women’s locker room facilities included large saunas,jacuzzis,steam room and a decently cold plunge pool. This was the highlight of our stay, especially in such a busy city. Only downside is the tennis and squash courts are quite expensive to rent. Location is convenient."
