I found the hotel pretentious and expensive for what it is. So it’s the hotel brand that’s not appealing to me. The location near buses and the subway is excellent. The restaurant right next store is very special. The staff is efficient but not very personal like the other hotels and ryokans I’ve stayed at for the last 2.5 weeks.

We had the most amazing time staying at Rakuro where the staff has been so welcoming, friendly and supportive! Lovely spacious room with great amenities, the en suite bathroom feels like a miniature sentō and spa! Great connections to public transport but you can also easily reach the city centre by a short walk. Couldn’t recommend staying at the hotel more!

Boutique style hotel, with clean & relatively spacious ( by Japanese standards) rooms. Staff were courteous. Nice touch with an array of guest amenities eg hairbrushes, tea bags, face creams etc & eatery…Great location too , across the road from the Kyoto national garden & walking distance to bus lines that will take you to a number of local temples & shrines..
