Mnarani House underwent a complete renovation in 2014. The four-bedroom house is uniquely situated next to the Friday Mosque and offers beautiful sea views from every floor. The house includes staff and a cook, a swimming pool, battery backup, a drinking-water filtration system, an ice machine, and Internet.

THE SPACE
Mnarani House was originally built in 1989 and underwent a major renovation in 2014. The house is uniquely situated next to the Friday Mosque, with beautiful sea views from every floor. It borders a green garden at the rear and Shela village to the left.

Guests will have sole access to the entire house and the swimming pool area; there are no off-limits areas. Our house staff, Raphael and Lucas (cook), will ensure all your needs are catered for during your stay.

Raphael has been with us since 2008 and manages the house on a day-to-day basis. Lucas has been our cook for the past 20 years and prepares everything from traditional Swahili dishes to seafood. He also arranges fresh supplies of fish, lobster, crab, calamari, and prawns.

Shela Village is a lovely, quiet place, about 800 people live there, and after a short while you will feel part of the community. The community is primarily Muslim, so we encourage guests to respect local customs and daily traditions.

You should experience walking around the village; there are no paved roads, so everything is on foot through small paths and valleys. We recommend spending time on both Manda and Shela beaches, visiting Lamu Town, taking a dhow sundowner trip, going on fishing trips, and visiting the Takwa ruins.

As part of the package, you will be collected from the airport by Mr. Balala; he will take you and your luggage by boat to the house (about 20 minutes). Boat transfers and porter charges are payable separately. Shela Village has no major roads, so getting around is on foot or by boat.

GUEST ACCESS

You will have access to the entire house for private use. We discourage guests from inviting outsiders onto the premises.
