We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The view from the front porch is terrific and straight down to the river. The neighborhood is quiet with very little traffic. The cabin is in excellent condition and very clean. Probably the cleanest VRBO we have rented. Great location fairly close to West Jefferson and Greyson Highland State Park.
We had a great weekend getaway. The house is clean, quiet, and we loved being able to access the river! Our four year old loved the park along the river in Lansing, and the cidery was great. Check in was easy, and the house was well stocked.
We loved all of our time in Lansing. Easy access to river for floating, fishing and cooling off. Amanda made everything super easy and relaxing. We definitely want to come back!

Amazing place!
The cabin had so much character. We fell in love with it as soon as we got to the porch. We didn’t want to leave. The host was so great and it was one of the cleanest places we’ve stayed out. We will definitely be a repeat customer. The location was beautiful.
Great location. Within 30 minutes, to hiking, biking and golf. House was well stocked and clean. Property was beautiful, enjoyed the river being right on front of house. Amanda was always very responsive
We had a great experience at the cabin! It was the perfect cozy get away. The host was very responsive and offered plenty of additional information about the cabin and the area in a few binders. You can tell they take great care to offer the best stay possible. We did had phone service and great Wi-Fi at the cabin, too.
We had a fun and relaxing getaway weekend at this cute vintage cabin that overlooks the North Fork of the New River. Loved the ambience of the original log and chinking wall with the gas fireplace for chilly evening family time. This cabin is the perfect mixture of a tranquil location in nature and a reasonable proximity to local towns and outdoor activities. The owner is a very responsive and gracious hostess, and we had everything we needed during our perfect family vacation! Hoping to return again soon!!!
Such a cute little place. Way off the main road and making calls were spotty, but it was fine since making calls from the main road were difficult too. 😉 Very clean and we felt at home. The beds and linens were so comfy. Everything we needed in the kitchen was provided. The only suggestion is having something to hold on to at the river. We were hesitant about getting in the river at the access because we felt it to be too challenging. Overall, we really had a great time!
My father, daughter and I stayed here as a home base to do some biking and canoeing. The house is is beautiful and exceptionally clean, but the best part was the swinging bench on the porch overlooking the river. It's a very quiet and peaceful place.
The owner put together a binder of local activities for hiking, fishing, canoeing, art, music, and local lore. And there is an extensive list of restaurants on the fridge. We ate at New River Brewing in West Jefferson and the Loghouse in Lansing, NC (great homemade chicken and dumplings and fried okra).
There's a mile or two of dirt roads to get to the cabin, and with the twists and turns of mountain driving, it takes a little more time to get to your destination (or so it seems for a flat-lander like me). It was about an hour drive to the Damascus bike shop to take the shuttle to White Top station for the Virginia Creeper Trail. 30 minutes to Zaloo's canoe outpost, and about 20 minutes to Jefferson, which has a Food Lion and a downtown with lots of restaurants.
My 9-year old daughter gave the house two thumbs up and asked when we will be coming back.
Such a quaint, cozy cottage! We absolutely loved our time in the mountains and getting to explore West Jefferson. The river was perfect for fishing and the area was super peaceful and exactly what we were looking for.
Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Charming in every way, inside and outside! Cheerfully decorated and fully equipped with everything to make for a memorable stay! The host was very communicative and helpful. We will definitely be back!
Adorable cabin, fantastic front porch - could hear and see the river from the porch and, with the front windows open, in the living room. Perfect for a little nature getaway!

This place was absolutely beautiful, peaceful and just what we needed and wanted. The front porch was comfortable and offered fantastic views of the river and the inside was cozy, clean, nicely decorated and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our own meals. Relaxed
Had a great time by the river. Cabin was cozy, quiet and clean. My husband enjoyed fishing while I enjoyed some quiet reading. We had everything we needed and our host was very kind and answered any questions we had.
The riverfront cabins was very nice and clean. A little on the small side and off the beaten path but it was just me and my son so plenty of room for the two of us. It was a little more rustic and dated then I expected (hence 4 instead of 5 stars), but overall it was a good experience and the owners went out of their way to communicate and make us feel welcomed.
I did not stay at the property. Requested a refund and did not receive. House was musty and had not been opened up for quite some time. Grounds were unkept and porch was dirty! Could not stay in a dirty smelly place. The owner needs to do something about airflow in the home, there is none. Very disappointed and will never use Vrbo
Again.
