The room and hotel common areas were very clean. The front desk staff were very helpful to us. First, in retrieving a bag we left in our shuttle. Then, in helping us get train tickets to Vientiane. The breakfasts were fairly basic but with some nice pastries. The hot items could have been kept warmer.

Great location by the delta- definitely get a room with a balcony overlooking- amazing views and ambiance. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Location wise, close to bars and restaurants and about 10mins from the old town. Great value for £.

The balcony overlooking the river along with the quiet neighborhood and excellent breakfast (with real coffee!) made this place a good choice. The only negative was that the walls were thin so we could easily hear the next door room neighbors chatting all night. This alone would probably not encourage us to return despite everything else being lovely.

Beautiful view; we chose a Riverview room. Coffee service setup was provided just outside our room and the breakfast buffet was great in both quality and selections. Very peaceful, and a short walk from multiple dining options. Staff was very attentive and helpful.

Laos Hotel

Great hotel in Luang Prabang. Close to old town and super walkable area. Hotel was beautiful along the river. Nice sized rooms with comfortable beds. Free breakfast was a huge plus. Great friendly service.

Truly a 10 out of 10. The location is great as the hotel is located within an easy walk to the centre of the old town with right next to the river. The staff were very friendly and efficient and all times. Both common areas and my room were kept extremely clean at all times and the breakfast was very tasty and consisted of a good selection. Based on my experience here, I highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are big and have everything you need. They are not modern, but they are very comfortable. The WiFi is reasonable. Most rooms have a lovely view of the river. The staff are very helpful. The breakfast is great.

We had a great time here! Our deck overlooked the river as did the breakfast patio. The staff was the best part! They were able to answer all our questions, book trains and help with bus tickets, offer advice on restaurants and book tuk tuks for us. So friendly and helpful! An easy few minutes walk to small stores and the night market. Close to a lot of temples to visit. Beds were comfortable, hotel was clean, breakfast was good. Highly recommend!

Great location and friendly staff! The rooms had nice views, but a few too many bugs for me. I know sometimes hard to control in Laos, but my first room had tons of ants. They moved me to another room which ended up having even more ants, which they sprayed, and it partially helped. There were also a couple geckos living in the room as well. I think the patio doors just need some better sealing!

Good value for money

My stay was pleasant overall. The initial impression of the room was great value for money and good location. The room was looked clean and was a decent size with comfortable beds and pillows. I enjoyed the balcony; minus natures pesky mosquitoes. That can't be helped. The staff were great. The breakfast was enjoyable. I appreciated that the staff stopped refilling food stations about 15 minutes before breakfast service ends. Others may not be a fan but it is a very sustainable and eco friendly move. It minimises the waste. It was unfortunate after some complaints from other guests who showed up later for the breakfast service; the staff prepped a bit more food. I hope it wasn't all wasted. Con: my bed was located under the A/C and it was leaking onto the headboard and hitting me while laying in bed. We did inform staff, they provided towels, and I said it was fine. I just moved my bed away from the leak since I was leaving the next morning.

I must admit, as my first city and first time in Laos I did get a bit of a culture shock and I'm not a timid guy. I did sign up for it and thats part of the fun for me. That all turned pure positive as I dealt with the staff and accommodations at Merry Riverside. Eager and helpful are things that I associate with good staff / stays and they proved to be both. Glad I spent the extra for the top room which I think I can say accurately was akin to a semi luxury cabin like experience. All was as seen on the web. Not everything was perfect, with some minor maintenance welcome but not nessisarily needed. One real but fairly minor complaint: the room fridge didn't work and according to a much older review thats a feature at this point not a bug. As I write this review, I miss this room after pulling a bad one in Vang Vieng! The view didn’t disappoint and stunned given the simplicity of a partially developed river bank! Breakfast was always good and reliable but subtlely diffrent each day. Get up early if you like it hot or like myself enjoy the best table in the corner! Centrally located in the tourist district but I had no problem walking the entire town minus the most remote areas. I cannot recommend it enough assuming you enjoy fully exploring other cultures. The experience changes in meaningful ways outside of the bubble but not an experience for all types to be sure. Not only would I stay again, but I fully expect to! My thanks to the staff!

Great view and breakfast but poor staff service

Room was good and loved the breakfast, especially with the great view on the river. Wifi non existent in the room. It loose 2 stars because of the staff. More precisely the evening staff. They were not helpful in any way. Once we want to book a tour to the falls but since we have a cooking class after at 4pm, we ask if it is ok timing wise. We were the day before. The guy tells us yes and that we can book next morning. Then we come the next morning the lady said we should have booked the day before. Luckily they had space so we managed to get a spot. We ask again about the cooking class. She said it’s ok. But then once we reach the falls the driver said to come back at 3:30pm, by the time we reached it was almost too late for our cooking class. Second time we wanted to book a shuttle to the train station. The guy from the evening said ok then, when we come the next morning same thing! The lady tells us we did not book so we need to take a tuktuk on the spot. The evening staff needs to be trained because right now it’s bad.

4.5 stars. Staffs were very friendly. Room was clean and spacious (family room with a river view). Lots of hot water, but handle was reversed to North American indicator for hot and cold. Our room needed a shower door as shower water splashed to the toilet and sink area with every shower. Breakfast buffet was great and included specialty coffees such as lattes and cappuccinos. Will definitely stay again if visiting Luang Prabang. Highly recommended!!

Beautiful river view hotel with a great breakfast

A hotel where you can chill with the view of the river and the greenery around. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It has buffet breakfast options with the river view. Caution while carrying heavy luggage, cars don't necessarily go all the way to the hotel.
