"Checked in was great except elevator was out of order and I was on the 3rd floor. Room was great. Ice machine was not working on the 3rd floor so more stairs. Would like to have had a microwave in the room. Will stay there again next time I’m in the area."
"This is a fantastic getaway! It's exceptionally quiet and peaceful along the Tenn-Tom, and it's a little remote, but we thought that was a good thing! And yet, it's still only about 20-30 minutes from Columbus and Starkville, so it's easy to reach civilization if needed. Despite the remoteness, the property is extremely well-appointed and modern on the interior, with all the appliances and amenities you'd want, plus plenty of streaming options and strong Internet if you can't unplug completely. Our little pup also enjoyed exploring all around the property and she was very comfortable the whole time. We agreed that if we're ever back in the area, we are staying here again! Many thanks to Melissa for a lovely week's stay."
"I had a horrible start with my room because the room I booked was not the room I was given. Thank you Kimberly Clark for your patience and kindness helping us. After viewing 4 rooms, we finally settled in. Area was close to the highway which was wonderful for my travels. The breakfast lady was sweet and kind. I am sorry that I don’t remember her name. But, none the less, she was wonderful."
"This felt more like a bed and breakfast. There are very few guests and very few people on staff. And we loved it and will be returning!
The downside: We were somewhat skeptical when we arrived late at night and didn't see any other cars. You have to drive around the old high school to find the hotel rooms and even still there were only 2 or 3 cars. My kid said, "Mom where did you find this place??" But that's because this is an event venue and there wasn't an event going on when we were there. There are only 17 rooms and when we were there only 6 were occupied. The location is an odd combination of business offices that sell wildlife cameras and wild pig traps (seriously), event meeting rooms, and lovely little hotel rooms - that have all been converted from a high school.
The upside: Despite all of that, once the sun rose and we got the lay of the land and met the staff in the breakfast room, we loved it! The food was delicious. The rooms were really lovely, super comfy beds and beautifully decorated, not standard hotel furniture. The staff communicated with us throughout our stay via text messages and were super sweet.
We will be returning to The Tangerine on future visits to Starkville to see our son who is an MSU student!"
River House with dock & boat slip, perfect for Alabama & Mississippi game days
10/10 Excellent
"This property is a beautiful home and a wonderful location, its on a wide body of water, we got to watch the barges go through which was neat. 3 of the rooms have doors to go outside to a porch. It has more than enough items you will need for your stay. The host are wonderful and got back with us and were great. The home is very clean and the beds all slept wonderful for all of our family. We will most definitely be back for our family get aways."
