Cozy Cottage Retreat, Close to Yosemite, Beautiful Views, Hot Tub & More!

This charming private cottage with beautiful views of the mountains is a great getaway for a couple or small family to relax and explore. You'll enjoy the private "country" setting and the proximity to the several Gold Rush towns of the Mariposa area. Just over an hour, through our "Wild and Scenic" Merced River Canyon, is Yosemite National Park. Our home is a great place to make memories, and a local professional photographer is available to capture them.


This cottage has a 1 bedroom with a full loft, which looks out through the large 2 story windows to the mountains. There is a fully stocked kitchen with all modern appliances. We offer basic spices, coffee and tea.

During the cold months, you can enjoy a nice glass of wine or hot cup of chocolate snuggled up to the wood burning stove. The wood for the stove is always fully stocked. It is close to the Badger Pass winter sports area and ice skating in the park and Tenaya Lodge. We offer his and hers snowshoes and snow sleds for a fun day in the snow.

The bedroom and loft are appointed with comfortable queen beds and a sofa that turns into a very comfortable double bed (There are reviews verifying the comfort of the bed.). The towels and linens are high quality soft cotton. The loft has a comfortable sitting area to read and relax. The library provides a wide variety of books, games and puzzles.

From the living area you can walk out onto the private deck with seating for 6+, a gas grill and a hot tub. The hot tub is right off the deck, which you can relax and soak up the incredible view of the sierras or star gaze in the evening.

All year we provide a herb garden and in the summer we grow yummy tomatoes for the guests to enjoy.

We also have a beautiful home on the same property, which is private and separate from the cottage. The home can be rented with the cottage for a big get together. To view the home please see 779053.

Yosemite weekend

Cozy cabin getaway!

We loved the cozy cabin for our adventure to Yosemite National Park. It was about an hour drive, but the scenery was beautiful so we didn’t mind. It was nice and quiet but the town was close enough to drive and get food easily. The bed was so comfy, and the hot tub was amazing after a long day of hiking. We were greeted with a nice bottle of wine. So kind!!

Wine valley getaway

OMGoodness this was a perfect location and everything we needed for several nights! Also a great breakfast/diner only a block away for getting breakfast or picking up lunch to go while not having to pay $$$ in town!

Yosemite stay

We stayed at the property during our trip to Yosemite. The drive to the park is nice, easy, and really pretty. Downtown Mariposa has different and delicious food options as well. The property was as advertised and has all the amenities for a great stay.

Great getaway to Yosemite!

Our stay was relaxing and peaceful. The place is perfect for 4 adults. Comes with all basic amenities and hot tub was a great plus. It is a bit of drive to Yosemite but it worked for us anyways.

Amazingly Gorgeous!!!

Amazing country cottage with view of the countryside, fully stocked with all the amenities you’ll ever need, very responsive hostess and lovely peaceful surroundings. Even a cooler and ice packs to use for taking lunch on day trips! The hot tub was so enjoyable after a full day of hiking! So enjoyable!

Beautiful retreat close to Yosemite

We had an awesome stay at Susans and Brians beautiful place close to Mariposa and also Yosemite NP. It's very quiet sow it was easy to relax after a day of hiking at Yosemite (about 1/1.5hr away). At the end we thought we should have stayed longer to embrace the beauty of the place with the garden and all the other amenities of the place more than we did. We were.lucky to meet our host Susan, she is such a nice person and a great host!

Great cottage

Met some wildlife on the property. A couple baby bats flying over head and a family of deer came pretty close. Loved the ambiance of the lighting on the back deck. The bottle of wine greeting us was a nice touch. Would recommend to others

A quiet Mariposa get away

This is our 2nd stay and I highly recommend this cozy cottage rental for a family of 3. My son loved the loft and tree swing, and making fires in the stove and outside as well. Communication with Susan was easy and super responsive- she was a great hostess and kind. The gifted wine was also delicious! Mosquitoes were a little fierce this time of year so use the provided OFF or bring your own bug spray.

Phenomenal Property!!!

Property exceeded expectations! Communication with the owners was excellent. Very helpful in advising on how to plan our site seeing. Property was very clean and accommodating. View from deck was great with plenty of birds and wildlife to view. Hot tub was amazing and great for relaxing after long days of hiking. Located at a reasonable travel from Yosemite Valley and other site seeing opportunities. Downtown Mariposa has a very nice small town vibe with enough to keep you occupied for a stroll through town. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back in the near future!

Peaceful gem

We had a wonderful stay with Susan over the week of Thanksgiving. We particularly liked the back porch and jacuzzi. Even though it was cold outside, the fireplace kept us cozy whenever we needed it. The large and well-appointed kitchen was just perfect for our needs. The beds were super cozy and warm and the living room was super comfortable. Susan was there whenever we needed to talk to her, even making sure we had an extra set of towels when my sister came. Just a fantastic time! Thanks, Susan!

Quiet retreat!

Wonderful experience of isolation and relaxation.. we had fun identifying the different herbs in the back yard and lounging in the hot tub. The location is conveniently located close enough to the town of Mariposa to enjoy all the cute shops and always have access to things we needed ! Only a short distance from Yosemite and the sierras it’s a great getaway for hikers and nature enthusiasts ! The only thing really missing was a washer and dryer.. but we managed .. the house was beautiful and very well stocked for home cooking which was nice to do as a family.. plenty of board games for family fun and the owners were very friendly and accessible! Thank you for hosting us and sharing your beautiful home ! ❤️

2-night getaway to Yosemite

We were at Susan and Brian’s beautiful cottage for a weekend and had the coziest, most wonderful stay. The sun shines in every room and at night, the stars are the clearest we’ve ever seen them. Susan was very welcoming and accommodating. The place itself was very comfortable and had everything you could need for a quick getaway. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect Yosemite Home Base

My wife, my son and I stayed at the cottage during our recent Yosemite trip. It was lovely. The property is so peaceful. It's little bit of a drive from Mariposa (took us 15 minutes) but was worth it for the privacy and wonderful views. The property had lots of little touches we appreciated. The hosts were amazing and communicated proactively before and through the stay.

Restful retreat near Yosemite

Susan and Brian were very hospitable and responsive. This location is so quiet, peaceful, and quaint. A lovely evening retreat after long hiking days! We really enjoyed the grill and hot tub. Drive into Yosemite is 1hr 20 mins but is a lovely route and goes by fast. Hiked Hites Cove, which is only about 40 mins away on our first day. Easy access to Mariposa. Highly recommend the Cozy Cottage Retreat!
