"Oakhil is a very nice smallish, homely hotel in beautiful grounds and countryside. We stayed in an ex carriage room so a bit dark but comfy. Main schandaliers wouldn't turn on to give more light. Food outweighs any minor complaint, as evening menu was varied and delicious. Breakfast was good but not memorable. If you're looking for a hotel near Matlock etc, try this one. It's good value, comfortable with yummy food."

"Tim the owner was friendly and helpful. The room had just about every amenity required & was spacious and comfortable. The house was quirky and atmospheric. Breakfast was excellent. I know we are in the minority probably but we would have preferred ' ordinary ' bread rather than the posh stuff. If you have been to Wirksworth we would recommend it as a quirky, friendly town."

"Excellent location near to Carsington Water and plenty of activities nearby. Accomdation very comfortable, spacious and cosy. Easy check in and check out. Wifi good. Super quiet evening, great bed, and beautiful views to wake up to in the morning. Fab!"
