The neighborhood located west of the Duomo, where Corso Magenta is situated—stretching from Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, to Piazzale Baracca—is filled with 19th- and 20th-century buildings inhabited by affluent families and prestigious institutions.
A major cultural institution in the neighborhood is the Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology: beloved by young and old alike not only for its exhibits and workshops, but also for the Toti submarine on display in the courtyard.
Luxurious cafés and pastry shops lend the neighborhood an extra touch of sophistication, along with iconic spots like the Galleria Rossana Orlandi and the Ferrari and Lamborghini dealerships.
Also worth mentioning is the market on Viale Papiniano, which every Saturday draws avid fans of secondhand clothing and fashion—from shoes to dresses, suits to shirts, and accessories discarded from the latest fashion shows. It’s a very long street, and the best way to explore it is by walking along the tree-lined median strip that separates the neighborhood from Sant’Agostino and the Ticinese districts.
