Not the best room in the house

Room 12 Yellow / Black warning tape on entrance to corridor King size bed ! Two singles shoved together. Decor : Very tired very very tired. Smell : Indescribable Shower : Very hot or Very hot, unajustable Kettle: Not sure what has happed to the Kettle, could have used as a grill.

We were travelling home from the Highlands

Moffat seemed the perfect overnight stop and we couldn't have been more pleased with the choice of our hotel, we stayed in the Cottage which was perfect for our family. It was spotlessly clean and had everything to make our stay enjoyable. The staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly at all levels. The food in The Oaktree was delicious. We would definately stay again.

Horrible experience! Don't stay here.

My brother and I were in separate rooms for two nights. The first morning, when I tried to take a shower, no water came out of the hot water faucet (I don't mean that the water was cold, I mean that NO WATER came out of the faucet). I tried to call the front desk but my telephone didn't work. I had to put on clothes and walk across the parking lot in the rain to get to reception, and when I arrived, there was only the cook available and she couldn't do anything. I went to my brother's room (in the main building) and took a luke warm shower (he had had hot water earlier, but by 7:30am the hot water was no longer hot). After breakfast, I explained the situation to the receptionist on duty and asked that the shower and telephone be fixed by the time I returned from our day of touring. When I returned that afternoon, the receptionist told me that both the shower and telephone had been fixed. I went to my room and into my bathroom to try it and still no water came out of the hot water faucet. I went back to reception to tell her and she came to my room to see for herself. Still no water would come out of the hot water faucet. And the telephone had not been fixed. She moved me to another room for the night. I would not recommend this hotel and in fact, I own a tour company and am going to find another hotel for my groups. I spoke with several of the hotel employees, and with the exception of one who had worked there for several months, all had been employees for a few days or weeks

Pleasant Surprise

Very good service. The King bed is actually two single mattresses together, which is okay as long as you stay to one side of the gap. No complaints though - will come again. Outstanding for the price.

Nice hotel in quiet town near M74

We discovered this lovely hotel a few years ago and now always use it when travelling to northern Scotland. Always clean with friendly staff. Breakfast is superb.

Handy for the lovely town

My room was a single. Not good value for money. £45 without breakfast. Shower room was very small. Single bed was comfy and it had tea/coffee and a tv. Needed a freshen up.

Comfortable, friendly and helpful staff, good food and value for money. Only downside was being on second floor which was a bit of a problem with dogs and a husband who is about to have a hip replacement!

Overall we enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel in nice surroundings. The food was very good and service friendly and efficient. Rooms are a little tired but didn't detract from overall experience!

All fine except for one very poor evening meal, where a so called main course tart was a small piece of cheese was on a puff pastry - no flavour and not as described on the menu! Also no rose wine '' due to a wedding the previous weekend '' - may also explain the poor meal!
