Armstrong Manor
Comfortable rooms. Good breakfast. Friendly owners.
The welcome from the team was warm and the big bonus was the room which we stayed in as it was a very large and comfortable en suite decorated to a high level and spotlessly clean.
Very nice stay. Hotel under new management and now called Armstrong Manor, as historic links to Cragside, only comment is to show these links more than just a blue plaque outside, photos, etc
Hotel still undergoing changes, so whilst top floor room was a little tired it was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Hosts' was service top class
An amazing place to stay. Our room was fabulous and spotlessly clean. The bar and restaurant are full of wonderful curios and artworks. Ashley is a brilliant host and made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We highly recommend Armstrong Manor. The best accommodation we've ever stayed in, in Rothbury.

Property is called something else with an extra sign saying Armstrong Manor. Appears to be in the middle of being renovated. Our room was clean and tidy appears to have been recently renovated. The rest of the hotel appears very cluttered but that could be awaiting placement in the unfinished rooms. Stay was pleasant enough, with not restaurant we ate at Queens Hotel, very good food. My biggest complaint about our accommodation was that there was no wifi even though it advertised it was available. We are travelling with no SIM card relying on free wifi to book attractions and future accommodation so was we found this stay inconvenient.

Disliked: Staff & service
The manor in itself is a lovely place, we liked the decoration and the rooms are large and fairly well equipped. Very close to the town centre. At first, the welcome was friendly & nice : no fussing about, and we did not even mind that the owners were still in the process of cleaning rooms and stuff was lying around the corridors. We got to know the owners a little in the evening when we were in the bar area of the hotel, they shared their tribes and tribulations owning this place and why they decided to close the hotel in a few weeks and move-on. One of them was in a fairly drunk and agitated state when we decided to go to bed. This would all have been fine if, the next morning, the owners had made sure to get-up on time to serve breakfast to their customers. Unfortunately, that was not the case and they clearly were woken-up by customers making their way to the dining area. They made zero efforts to hide the fact that they were still drunk and had to drive in a rush to the nearest shop to get supply to prepare breakfast (which was disgusting by the way). There was no apologies from them and one did even shout that they clearly had slept in that that we could write a negative review if we wanted, he "could not care less", since the place was closing soon. I think I am a pretty tolerant person but I can not forgive the lack of respect to customers. This is a total lack of professionalism.
Really liked the interior of the hotel and bedroom. There were a few problems during our stay but were all rectified by the owners who were very helpful throughout our stay. Enjoyed our stay in Rothbury
All fine except shower temperature wouldnt regulate and breakfast was fine except bacon seemed like itd been pan fried in a dirty pan. Other than that was fine.
The 2 lovely lads running the property seem to have given up running the hotel. Cereal and bread Breakfast is served 8.30 to 9.30 daily, far too short a window, and the walls are paper thin between rooms, so you can easily hear snoring and every word of a conversation.
We ended up not stopping at this location, Having friends in Rothbury, We were informed that there was a great deal of trouble at this location, I had been informed that the proprietor of Armstrong Manor had been causing disturbance with the locals, blocking of access to local residences and causing a disturbance, to the point that one weekend the location had been closed by the Police, after that the proprietors drove a sit on lawn mower up and down the road 8pm, after which the were find a £1000, had there license revoked and a Public Protection notice enforce against them.
In all honestly you could not expect my partner and i to stay at this location in these circumstances.
