Hotel is in the perfect location. Highly suggest stopping at the market for food because options are very limited. Also note the rooms don’t have refrigerators but there are several large ones in the common area.
Absolutely beautiful location and good facilities. We really enjoyed our stay here. Accommodation was basic but comfortable, slightly small for a family of 4 but being able to sit in the kitchen and living area was a bonus.
Great location for a two night stay. Easy checkin, the upstairs large communal area fantastic. Is very big and has everything you need to cook. Very clean, staff very friendly and helpful
We really enjoyed our stay. The lodge is well located and clean. The common area has great views and a big and well equipped kitchen. We highly recommend.
Very easy to locate and the staff organised the key for our late check-in. The room is very cosy and warm. The kitchen in the common room has got everything and it is quite clean.
The location is perfect. The common lounge is super. The view is also excellent. The rooms are bit dated. But it’s ok for short stays. Considering the price and location it’s excellent value
Beautiful location. Front desk staff super helpful and friendly, especially Hafizah. Clean community kitchen stocked with dushes, pots, pans and cleaning supplies, BBQ grill, refrigerator space and small amount of free supplies like milk. Had french press or plunger for coffee so bring coffee grinds. So close to hikes. Great value for price.

Liked: Staff & service
Pros:
Excellent location; terrific view of the mountains; cooking/dining /common room very good with great views; staff pleasant and helpful.
Cons:
Small, shoebox rooms - a great disappointment for the price. Poor soundproofing - I could hear people in the next room talking during the night.
Would I recommend it? Not really.
Loved location . Had a full kitchen upstairs & kitchenette in our room . Short drive to Tasman glacier walk & hooker valley track . Nice if u want to engage with others or peaceful back in your own room . Mt cook area was stunning
The room was basically as advertised. The king size bed is 2 twins put together so there is a lump in the middle if you choose that option. The Mountain View was great, the kitchen and lounge area were nice as well. The whole restroom is a little tough to keep dry as the shower is the same floor. We would stay here again!
Great property in the heart of Mount Cook Village. Room was a good size and featured a big bathroom and a small “kitchen” and fridge. There is an upstairs lounge with incredible views and a big kitchen if you want to cook your own meals since the restaurant options are few and expensive in Mount Cook Village. The room was very quiet and also had a big double chair that could be pulled out into a single bed. A great option for less money!
Staff was extremely helpful. Was an overall comfortable room. General kitchen & dining area had awesome views.
At night there seemed to be loud machinery noise-I forgot to ask what it was. I was able to sleep because I got used to the sound.
Not a lot of choice in Mount Cook Village but the Alpine Lodge is clean and well equipped and so well placed . The walls are a bit thin but everyone without exception respected this fact so it wasn’t a problem . The staff are helpful and parking is relatively easy either at the front in the evening or at the back during the day . The views of Mount Cook from the communal area and the upper bedrooms at the front are perfect . Nice to sit with you coffee looking at the mountains . Everything else you can put up - not luxury accommodation but great even so .

Stunning location, mediocre hotel
You're paying for the location not the property itself and the location is 10/10 - a 7 minute drive to the start of the hikes, Mt Cook view from just outside the front door! Stunning!
The property is what it is, you can't expect much in a remote location but I was still disappointed. Rooms are tiny, no AC (it could get warm on a sunny summer day), no air circulation at all. Only hotel I've had in NZ without a mini fridge in room. There is a full shared kitchen and lobby got guests with several fridges but other guests moved my stuff in the fridge and it was definitely not optimal especially in a post covid world.
It would be very worth it IMO for the property to spring for a mini fridge and microwave for each room. Rooms are accessed from inside with a tight hallway and stairwell.
Still in the end worth it for 2 nights for the location.
