River Haven is a two bedroom, two bath cabin located directly on the Nottely River in Murphy North Carolina. From the screened in porch you look out over the clear flowing river. The riverside patio is a great place to enjoy the firepit when not fishing, tubing, kayaking, hiking, or exploring Murphy and the amazing river walk. Nottely River Winery is only about 6 miles away, and it's beautiful. And lets not forget the Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino just 12 miles away.

So you can relax at the cabin and do nothing at all, or do as much as you can if relaxing is not the only thing on the agenda. The Ranger Community Center has a kayak/canoe launch so from there a really nice float down to our place. When the water is low, about a 1.5 hour float, to as fast as 30 minutes if the water is flowing strong.

Fishing from our bank is fun, and wade fishing even more so. We are at the end of the road so very peaceful and quiet. It seems like you are a million miles away from anything, yet downtown Murphy is nearby along with great restaurants and shopping.

Disclaimer, VRBO shows in the map area that we are a one minute walk to a lake, we are not. I think they might mean if you are downtown. And the Hiawassee River is not 40 minutes away but maybe 15 minutes or so.

Mountain paradise

Loved everything about our stay. The only disappointment was that we have 2 boys that love to fish but the water is very shallow and they didnt have much luck catching anything.

Wonderful Escape From the World

Great Memories

This place has it all if you want a true Western North Carolina experience. Kayak right out the back with the provided Kayaks. Teenage girls had a blast and the home cooked meals were the best. Definitely recommend staying here. Thank you for the lifelong memories.

This home had such a beautiful view of the fall colors straight across the river. Peaceful listening to the flow of the river from the porch. Clean and well stocked and decorated beautifully. We enjoyed our stay very much, couldn't have asked for anything more.

Location! Location! Location! If you are looking for a spot that you can walk out of the back door and jump in the river, this is it. All you need to enjoy a breakaway from the daily grind can be had; plus, it's conveniently located to downtown Murphy!

Thank you for letting us stay in your mountain home. It is immaculate. We had a great time. The setting is fantastic with the river in the background, and woods across it. We enjoyed the firepit and unparalleled stargazing.

Amazing Getaway

The property was just like in the pictures and listing. It was perfect to help us get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We spent many hours sitting on the wonderful screened in porch or at the side of the river.

Spectacular view

The home was very clean and the view was spectacular. The only two complaints were all of the beds were old (need to be replaced) and the other is they have well water which smelt of sulfure and was not pleasant.

Another great stay.

Was our second time vusiting. Was again a nice and quiet getaway. Will definitely be back again. River was nice and cold for a dip in at the bank. Plus fire pit came in handy for smoking up some local trout.

Exactly what was presented! House was perfect. View to die for. Caught a huge trout on the 3rd cast and several yellow perch...yum. In contact with owner who was more than accommodating. Highly recommend.

Get away from the city.

Was a great location to get away. It was nice and quiet. Kids loved fishing in the river, was a bit too cold to take out the kayaks. All in all will try to come back in the summertime. Communication with Le Ann was great from check in. Just a heads up cell service was kinda in and out but didnt mind at all.

Family Fly Fishing Trip

Beautiful place on the River to stay. Drive on the road to the house was easy, not scary like some others. Purpose of our stay was for our boys (10,14 and 15 yrs. old) was to fish. Unfortunately, it rained during our stay which stirred up the water and made the fish not want to bite. We did catch two lady fish, one catfish and there were lots of mud skippers (caught by net) though, so it was enough that our boys enjoyed.

Hidden Gem!

This cabin on the river is beautiful! The house sits on a flowing river, so you always hear the sound of moving water. The details inside the house to make you feel like you’re right at home are amazing! The house is decorated impeccably. The furniture and beds are comfortable, the kitchen is very well stocked with every pan and utensil You could ever want or need. The outdoor furniture and fire pit are cozy and intimate. We were so content to just sit snd read or listen to the water that we never turned a TV on in three days! The owners are extremely attentive to their guests, and go the extra mile to ensure your comfort and enjoyment!! Would definitely recommend!
