Receptionist was friendly and staff was hospitable. The hostel stay caters to hikers doing the Nakasendo trail and is close to the Nakatsugawa station. The property is historic, yet well renovated, so we were comfortable. They also provide tea and cups of noodles at no additional cost if guests need a snack. The biggest bonus is that it's a traditional Japanese house in a historic part of town, so staying there is a travel experience in itself. ...

Staff made one large mistake: a replacement pocket WiFi was shipped to us by vendor but delivered to wrong building at hotel address. Staff failed to communicate with each other so we did not receive it despite several inquiries by us.
