A unique feature about the Sandy Run Cabin is that it is located in an ATV Friendly area. The Monday Creek Trail System is located 1-mile away from the cabin. Wayne National Forest offers over 75+ miles of designated trails for off-road riders. Guests can ride directly from the cabin to the nearest trail-head. If you have your own off-road vehicle, bring it to experience Wayne National Forest.
Travel down the road to visit Sand Run Lake and our “lower pond,” both great options for catch and release fishing. Visit Sand Run Lake Picnic Area to get lost in the forest filled with pine trees. If you have a hammock, we recommend bringing it so you can fall asleep amongst the trees. The newly renovated gravel fire pit with wooden benches and tables is great for you and your guests to create memories of a lifetime around the campfire. You can end your night by relaxing and unwinding in the warm Jacuzzi. Before heading to bed, make sure you and your guests check out the beautiful starry night sky because that is not something you get to experience all the time.

The absolute best features of the Sandy Run Cabin include all the outdoor features. Being avid outdoor lovers, we hope you and your guests get to spend some quality time outdoors! After waking up, sit on the back deck to gaze into the forest and listen to the nearby nature. Spend the afternoon enjoying flamed grilled food from the grill.

We were thrilled with our cabin. The property was exactly as described. It was clean and had everything we needed. In addition there is a beautiful creek that runs through the property and provided hours of entertainment for the kids.

Sandy run was a nice get away and the price was very reasonable. Limited space for dogs but we were walking the trails at ash cave and old man’s cave. It wasn’t quite a remote as I thought it would be. Took in a few shops in the area and I think the slingshot looks like it would be a fun ride for anyone looking for adventure. Air conditioners go. In windows so if you have a warm spell you will need to open the windows and no screens. Overall a nice getaway for my honey and the fur babies.

The images were a little misleading. I was under the impression that the cabin was a bit more remote than it actually was. We did have a nice visit from one of the neighbors who lived across the street. Overall the cabin would be nice for a family who are not looking for grown up time.

The cabin was on an intersection with no room for it to be dog friendly. Also we had children throwing rocks at our windows and cars and there is no cameras for us to be able to catch them. We ran out of trash bags and there were no extras for us so we had to go buy them. Also the hot tub was very dirty and unkept. The mattresses definitely need to be replaced SOON.

-Decor was cute and it was clean. The temperature was great in the cabin.-There are a lot of repairs needed. Fridge dripped water all over the food and on the the floor.-Bedroom electric run by extension cords.-Half of the jets on hot tub didn't work.-Drains were all very slow.We did have a good time!

Unaddressed Safety Concern

The cabin itself is represented in the pictures. It's a nice dual-level with plenty of sleeping space, located a short, pleasant drive from Nelsonville. But our stay was not very peaceful.Our first night my 8-year-old and I saw sparks coming from an outlet. I was able to kill the breaker (also the WiFi and AC upstairs). We aren't able to reach anyone by phone, so we stayed an uneasy night. We were able to call the hosts in the morning. I elected to leave the power off while we went for a hike.Maintenance came in the afternoon. He checked that the outlet had current, plugged in the powerstrip, and said it was fine. He wasn't worried about the sparks. Right after he left, another large spark came from the outlet. We called the host back, but didn't get any real info.At about 1700, the outlet began smoking. I shut it off and we again called the host. I checked behind the faceplate of the discolored outlet and found significant burning. We decided to pack up and leave, and I shut down the main power when we left. We were offered to be moved to another location, but we wanted to go home after the situation. I asked for a refund for 1 night. This seemed more than fair considering we potentially saved the property from a serious tragedy. That request was ignored. Between that and the lack of reaction or appropriate level of concern, I would not recommend 1st Choice Lodging.

To many issues to list, the hot tub did not work, there are cracks in the ceiling, hands rail was busted along with other things wrong.

Weekend stay

It was a nice place. But pictures need to be updated. There was no play set. Also the grill is rusted very very badly and is unusable.

Worth the price for sure but could use some attention

We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin is two stories and very spacious. The good: *Clean and cozy *large smart TV upstairs *kitchen has pots,pans, utensils *Price is very fair *AC is cold *good wifi *spacious and comfortable *hot tub works but needs cleaning The bad: *Only one tv works downstairs. *The outdoor grill needs a lot of attention and was not usable for us *it is on a main road that an ATV tour passes through so you will hear them driving around *not as secluded as the listing appears. There are neighbors and cars driving by. Overall, I would recommend staying here for the price and value. I have the same little complaints as the other reviewers so hopefully they correct those small issues. I would stay here again.

Cabin in the hills

We enjoyed our stay at sandy run cabin. There were a few minor issues. The TV didn't work in bedroom #1 we contacted the rental agency but it didn't get resolved. The location isn't as private as we imagined but it was still nice. All in all it was a cozy lil cabin that was perfect for just the two of us.

Sandy Run

The cabin was very pretty. There were a few things that didn't work properly, the one that was the worst was the hot tub. Only 2 of the jets worked and the temperature did not get to the highest heat which made it impossible to enjoy. The stove had only one working burner and one of the TVs would not work in the main bedroom. We chose our cabin based on price including the hot tub so that was disappointing but we may return amd do a little more research, and ask more questions. I did enjoy spending time with my parents and husband. We ultimately had a great time.

Will definitely use this property management company again. Just not this cabin

The property rental company was awesome, this particular house is just on a fairly busy road. It’s also very close to atv trailheads, so we had quads running past our place literally all night long, both nights. But great rental if you’re coming to do some night riding!

Cabin was nice and clean but hot tub water was stagnant and had leaf floaties in it. Only half the jets worked. Tried to get it fixed. But they made it right
