Slow Down & Go Back in Time-Relax Completely in Our Maine Home

Sunny and bright, loads of light! Come and enjoy our clean, comfortable home away from home!

Our cedar-shaked, one-floor home welcomes you with vibrant flowerboxes and several flower beds on an acre in beautiful Maine. The two bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with twin beds) are complimented by the large sunny family room (with two queen futons) which leads to a private flagstone patio through French doors. The queen sofa bed in the living room is also available for sleeping. There is one full bathroom with bathtub; the shower has great water pressure to wash away your beach day's sand! Washer/dryer on are on site; there is an outdoor clothesline for drying beach towels and suits.

The home is well-suited for gatherings of your family and friends--settle by the indoor fireplace or relax around the outdoor fire pit for an evening campfire. The open-concept, fully equipped kitchen with bay window and the dining area are easily accessible to the large sunny deck via sliders and doors. The gently sloping lawn supports a large area for children to play safely nearby. Our large library of books allows you to read and relax whether you are out on the deck, down at the Point, or sitting on the beach! Our collection of DownEast magazines may help you plan your Maine adventures and excursions during your stay. And for those rainy days, there are many games and puzzles!

Famous Pemaquid Point Lighthouse lies just south down the road (2.5 miles) and the white sands of Pemaquid Beach are 1 mile east. We are located in the village of New Harbor with a quaint, fully-stocked grocery store, gas station, hardware/fishing gear store, ice cream stand, Maine artists' galleries & craft shops, and a bank/ATM all within walking distance from the house. New Harbor is central to all Midcoast Maine cities and towns--Freeport to Camden are within an hour of travel time. The twin cities of Damariscotta/Newcastle are the closest 'big' towns to our home.

Water sports (kayaking/canoeing, sailing, swimming (ocean, lake, river swimming 'hole'), fine restaurants, birding, Hardy Boat Tours (including Monhegan Island and the Maine coast), hiking, shopping/antiquing are all within several miles of our home. The Botanical Gardens in Boothbay are a must see! For children, there are many activities: beach fun, tide pool explorations, hands-on activities at the local Colonial Pemaquid Museum and the Boothbay Harbor Aquarium to name a few.

A clean, spacious, comfortable place, well located to explore area attractions or simply to relax. Pemaquid Beach is a real gem and only minutes away; dogs are allowed Oct 16 through Apr 30. Martha is very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Something to know: House is railroad style—people sleeping on the futons in the family have to go through the bedroom with the full-size bed to reach the rest of the house, and anyone sleeping in that bedroom has to go through the living room. So, a potential privacy issue if your party doesn’t fit in the two bedrooms.

Sadly, I must leave a very negative review of this property. The description of the property was vastly misrepresented. The property was not clean, nor were photos which must have been taken years ago. There were dog hairs on the futon and cobwebs with a hole stuffed with still wool in living room and also covered with cobweb. The double doors in living room were tied shut with rope. This led to a nonexistent flagstone patio overgrown and unkept for years. The curtain was torn in living room and curtains in bedroom tied with string. There. Was a rectangular hole in cut out in the bedroom door which I stuffed closed with string from curtain. Had there been a camera there? I don’t know. The screen door was filthy as were the chairs on the deck. There was a dead hanging basket and dead flowers on the deck table. There was no soap in the shower and the curtain in the bathroom was a ragged piece of material hung over a curtain rod. The towel rack had been removed from the door leaving holes in the door. There was no hairdryer. I will provide photos of this property that do not fit the description in the listing. The host was described as a premier host. I have received a refund for the cleaning fee by VRBO which I appreciate, but we were uncomfortable staying there and feel we should be fully refunded due to total misrepresentation of the property. We were unable to find any other accommodations for our stay as everything rise was booked. We would have left if we could have.

It was the perfect spot for my short getaway stay. The house has a very homey feel, and the spacious deck and yard are lovely and very private even though the house is on a busy road. As a first time vrbo user, I was particularly impressed by how responsive the owner was to any questions or concerns I had. The house was also immaculately clean. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to family and friends who want a holiday in this lovely part of Maine.

Charming and Homey!

This rental was affordable and ideal for our family. The home is chock full of Maine doo-dads and what-nots, quilts, tapestries, books, games, etc. A small grocery store is a pleasant 5 minute walk (get there early to get their amazing fresh made pastries every morning), as well as a wonderful ice cream stand. We would love to stay here again!

Amazing stay !

Our stay at Martha’s was nothing short of amazing. Check in and all communication was extremely smooth. We were already super familiar with the area and the location could not be more perfect; walking distance/short drive to Reilly’s, Pemaquid Lighthouse and beach, Shaws and much more. The home was clean and well loved. The only possible downside would be having to walk through one of the bedrooms to get to the main living area, but there is a patio door that could be used to avoid this. This was definitely not a problem for us as there were only two of us staying. Would definitely stay here again as the home had that coastal Maine charm that just can’t be beat.

Wedding

We came to New Harbor for a wedding. The wedding and other activities were close to this property. The flower boxes in front were not there and by the front door area was a big weed patch. We were to dispose of our own garbage, we left at 4am on a Monday. Transfer station is not open till 8am and closed on Sunday. The 3 stairs going into the kitchen were an issue for my wife, so we stayed in the lower part of the house

wonderful!!!

This is my 3rd time staying at this lovely place. Everything is beautifully clean and well maintained. Check in is seamless. I have never seen a kitchen so well equipped. you can literally cook anything here! The location is within walking or a few minutes driving distance to all the attractions on the peninsula. I am so looking forward to returning!

Great comfortable place

We really enjoyed staying at this property. It was clean, comfortable and cozy. Plenty of room for us and out pooch. Great location, close to Pemaquid Point and the 1812Farm where we attended the wedding of my nephew on Sunday. I would definitely book again, and recommend as a great place to stay.

Nice Maine house

We had a two night stay in beautiful New Harbor. Close to the beach, sights, and restaurants. House was very clean & well appointed kitchen. Loved sitting out in the deck for lunch and late afternoon sun. Just need to mention it is 3 stairs down to Kitchen, back bedroom, & bath if there are accessibility issues.
