We only stayed at the hotel for a night, but the property was everything we were looking for in a boutique style hotel. The decor was cozy and homey, the property was extremely clean and well-managed, the staff was extremely friendly, check-in was quick and easy, and the room was just as great! It's in a great location to explore and walk through town and we highly HIGHLY recommend!

The room was very clean and comfortable with a good bed, clean modern bathroom with plenty of linen. The room I stayed in was a perfect size for 1 person. Lynne and her staff do a fantastic job, check in was easy to do online and Lynne provided a lovely personal service

State Hotel is a stylish, central hotel in New Plymouth. The beds are extremely comfortable, the bathrooms are modern with excellent showers, and the rooms are well equipped with microwave, tea and coffee making facilities, cutlery, crockery and a well stocked fridge. With a choice of restaurants on your doorstep, parking at the hotel, and the city sights of New Plymouth in walking distance, State Hotel is the ideal base to enjoy the city.

It was a surprising gem for my wife and I. It had exactly what you could need from a hotel and provided everything in-room that most high end hotels would have as extra...this said, be prepared for the smaller bathroom which was fine - some people seem to want a bathroom bigger than their bedroom for some reason. The rooms were well appointed and really comfortable. We only stayed a night because it was a drive through visit for a wedding BUT would definitely have been happy with a 3 day stay or more. The hosting managers were helpful and great to deal with but the PRICE was by far the catch for us, given some surrounding offerings were not as nice and more expensive. A business traveler or personal trips to regions, its just relaxing and in a central location you have everything at your disposal. We loved it.

Hotel was comfortable and well appointed. Only issue was no where to hang towels to dry so if staying more than one night would have damp towels. Also parking is not attached to actual hotel - some distance to walk to it down back alley.
