Luxury stay

We have had a great stay. Dinner lastnight in the Smiths Brasserie was superb and when we retired to the oak bar after we received great service there also. Off to the spa this morning for a detox.

You arrive at this place thinking "wow - this looks lovely" and you leave bitterly disappointed and with a really bad taste in your mouth, figuratively and literally. Really consider some other options before considering this place.

Wonderful country house hotel in about 200 acres of stunning grounds. Lots of outdoorsy things to do. The sitting rooms are glorious with open fires and the staff are attentive and there are lots of little touches that make the hotel stand out. The food is excellent, eat in the Great Western Restaurant if you can. Breakfast excellent.

Lovely place

Overall an excellent experience but the spa was a little bit tired and the pool was cold but everyone’s really friendly and the ducks were really lively!!

An excellent stay once again. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, food delicious with great care taken over my food allergy & in tolerance. They welcomed us with mocktails as I had mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, such a lovely touch.

Booked a valley castle room w king bed for one night in late Sep. Room was very clean with comfy n up to date decor. Room was big enough and soundproof quality was good. Big garden surrounded hotel n we took a pleasant walk the next day. Should have stayed for one or two nights so as to enjoy swimming pool and other facilities. The historical building was well maintained. Very pleasant stay

This is a beautiful place and a wonderful setting and the levels of service were significantly better than when I stayed here a couple of years ago as they have clearly staffed up since then. Couple of irritating things - £25 to use the EV charger - ridiculous, breakfast is still a bit of a shambles organisationally and you pay £28 a head for this privilege !

Fantastic stately home with lovely gardens. We had the cheapest room on the third floor and it was fine. The evening meal was ok but not fantastic. There is plenty to do and must be a golfers paradise. The ground floor rooms were magnificent

A beautiful manor house with wonderful ambience and facilities. The option to make your stay as relaxing or as active as you prefer. All options are catered for. The staff are very attentive and courteous, nothing was too much bother. Would recommend Bovey Castle for those wanting to enjoy a very welcome escape and to explore the nearby areas.

Possibly the best hotel we have every visited

The attention from the staff begins the moment you pull up to this wonderful, hidden gem in the Dartmoor countryside. We had our two dogs with us and they were treated like royalty during our long weekend break in March. The rain didn’t put us off long walks in the gardens, over to the local pub and also we found time for a spot of archery in the grounds. The food is absolutely brilliant (and the dogs were allowed in the brasserie), the bar served top notch cocktails too. We had a castle room and it was just perfect. Stunning views over the valley and everything you needed for a perfect nights sleep - as well as a lovely coffee and tea station for the morning. The pool was lovely with steam room and sauna and also a stunning view through the glass into the grounds. All in all - utterly faultless in every way.
