I got invited to take pictures at a very special Day of the Dead ceremony in 3 Reyes—a small Mayan community in the state of Yucatan. To witness this side of my own country, relatively unknown to the most of us, is such a beautiful feeling!
A local musician dressed as a dead Eagle Warrior sings and plays the drums, asking the spirits to visit the living and take the offerings from the altars.
Hanal Pixan stands for "The Feast of Souls"; and you can clearly appreciate that fact in every altar around 3 Reyes.
