The room was very small. The fixtures and fittings were old but functional. The bathroom could do with refurbishing as finish poor and needs work. The breakfast was fantastic with loads of choice and you can eat a mush as you like. The staff were all helpful and polite.

Food offerings very ordinary, buffet style dinner and not much choice, food left under lights for some time, not very hot at 8.00pm. Breakfast similar, the same choice every day, average quality, nothing special. No personalised cooking eg omelettes, poached eggs. Room OK but a bit tired, bathroom door did not close properly, taps very difficult to turn. No drinks cooler, but a microwave. Obviously caters for people getting take-aways. No room service for 4 days - had to request at reception. Gone downhill since last stayed there, will not return. Nice location and grounds, plenty of parking.

Stayed in an executive room in the main hall. Well appointed room with fridge, kettle, microwave etc. issues with TV resolved by staff. Quiet room . Plenty of seating areas throughout hotel and lovely grounds. Good choice at breakfast. Reasonable price for evening meal add on but not good choice if you have digestive issues. Stopped for the weekend to attend a murder mystery dinner. Grand room for event. Staff courteous and eager to help but the queue for bar service was 30 min plus as they had 3 events on and only 1 person serving on the bar and the wedding guests took precedence. So we missed parts of the murder mystery acting queuing for drinks. Not ideal. Very quiet location. Nothing much to do off site,so even though we booked 3 nights, we left a day early to travel home in Sunday traffic.

Room was clean,staff very helpful and friendly. Only disappointment was the food in the bar on the Saturday night. Food was warm but the 10 minute wait for cutlery was a problem. Chilli loaded chips was more like lasagna made with chips not pasta. However the desserts were really good. I would stay there again but might not eat there again.

The grandeur of the hall and the grounds were stunning, however, the rooms are in need of a refurb and are dated with a hodge podge of random furniture strewn. Do not recommend the food (Jenny's) it was not worth the money. Spa and pool facilities were excellent.

We have stayed at this hotel at various times over the last 20 years. We stayed 3 weeks ago, but last night was the worst experience ever. Arrived at around 13:15 but couldn’t check in until 3pm. Had a walk into local village, which is lovely. Went back to hotel just after 3pm and a massive queue for check in. I would say around 20 people. Only one poor lady on her own, trying to deal with customers on her own. One lady took so long, 20 minutes, as very demanding and telling everyone that she had a group booking but the rest of the party had not arrived. The rest of us were waiting outside in the rain and by the time we checked in it was after 4pm and the spa and pool was closed. Everyone was really annoyed as they were all there to have a relaxing time. I think the hotel was just overwhelmed with guests and there was a wedding one. The staff are fabulous and I felt so bad for them. The food is great and this won’t put us off going again. Just think it was a bad day.
