"The room and bathroom were very clean, the room tastefully furnished, the bed very comfortable. Couldn't fault the room. We liked the location of the property, an easy walk to down town but far enough out to be able to get a carpark. Especially good that the hotel is in a repurposed office building. Perhaps the hallway carpets could be cleaned."

"Wow what a gem ! This would have been one of our nicest stays in NZ. The old house has been beautifully restored and so tastefully fitted out. Annabel was an outstanding host, very delightful and so helpful. Breakfast was fantastic and small things like the chocolates in the room reminded us of a by gone era of hospitality. If you are going to stay anywhere in NZ make sure this hotel is on the top of list!"

But what truly sets The Chamberson apart from other hotels in Central Dunedin are the people behind it: Michael and Jackie. Travel has become increasingly frictionless and increasingly impersonal at the same time. We move through airports, apps, kiosks, and automated messages. Then occasionally you meet someone who reminds you that hospitality is not a set of instructions but a human gift, the gift of making a stranger feel welcome in a new place or unfamiliar situation. Jackie and Michael have that rare gift. Years from now, I may forget the details of the room, but I will remember the feeling of being genuinely welcomed and cared for during our stay at the Chamberson. P.S.
