The staff was corteous and helpful but I do not recommebd the hotel because it's located on top of a hill, making it very inconvenient if you want to get food outside of the hotel. The taxi ride from Onomichi JR station costs about JPY1,300 each way, so if you want to go down to the streets to explore and eat you will have to pay about JPY2,600 for the round trip. What really shocked me was the hotel breakfast. It costs JPY2,200 and at that price you would expect to be full but there was tiny amount of food (one thumbnail size bit of fish, one tiny piece of omelette, and very small varieties of condiments plus a bowl of rice and miso soup. I had visited an upscale onsen in Uno (by Naoshima island) and the sumptuous lunch set there cost JPY2,100 with so much delicious seasonal food, making me feel deprived by the breakfast set at the Onomichi Club.
Again, the staff was very nice but this hotel has poor value for the money. I should have stayed at the Green Hill hotel right by the JR Onomichi station.
