PortaFelice is a gorgeous and bright penthouse on a prestigious contemporary architecture building that rises in one of the most beautiful squares of Palermo old town.
The apartment enjoys a unique view of the sea and a huge terrace for the exclusive use of guests.

From the huge terrace you will enjoy an amazing breathtaking view!
The building was built in the late 60s and is the result of collaboration between engineer Franco Amoroso and the prestigious firm of architects BBPR, which consists of the master of Italian Rationalism Gian Luigi Banfi Lodovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso Enrico Peressutti ed Ernesto Nathan Rogers.
This building is considered by experts one of the most important example of contemporary architecture in Palermo old town and is highly appreciated as expression of Brutalism, an architectural style which emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom, among the reconstruction projects of the post-war era.
In fact, the building rises from the ashes of a pre-existing Baroque palace destroyed by the bombings of the Second World War and represents a rare example of stitching between ancient city and modern architecture. In this regard, noteworthy is the ancient portal wisely preserved on the side on Via della Regia Zecca.

The apartment is fully furnished with fine furniture and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
The main rooms overlook the terrace surrounding the apartment, and from this you can access the wonderful sun terrace on the roof of the building for the exclusive use of guests. Its position allows a unique breathtaking view of Porta Felice, the suggestive sea horse fountain, the seafront (foro italico) and the entire bay of the city.

Fantastic Stay at Porta Felice Apt

My wife and my grown son spent two weeks in Palermo and made this wonderful apartment our home base. Geovani arranged for us to be picked up at the airport by Vincenso (who we used several times for trips to Segesta and Agrigento.) The apartment is stunning: the view, the location, the museum quality furnishings. Everything was more than we expected. The location made it easy to get to the grocery store (a 5 minute walk to Famila) and to at least a dozen excellent coffee shops and restaurants in the vicinity. A 10 minute walk takes you to the redeveloped Palermo waterfront with its excellent new restaurants and promenade. It's maybe 15 minutes to walk to the Quatro Conti. The property itself could not have been nicer. Geovani and Marina (his mom) made sure we had coffee, ice (we American's have a thing about ice...) and basics. They arranged to have the place cleaned after week one, while we were out on an excursion.Can't say enough nice things about the apartment, the hosts and the location. We feel we got a bargain and would go there again.

The perfect apartment in Palermo

Giovanni's apartment was everything we needed for our 7 day stay in Palermo. Ideally located in the characterful old part of town whilst also having amazing views of the bustling harbour. Giovanni was a superb host; being ever helpful, knowledgable and considerate. The apartment could not be faulted in any way. It was extremely well equipped, spacious, comfortable and everything worked, including the excellent air conditioning. It is perhaps the best city centre apartment we've stayed in. Highly recommended for the ideal break in Palermo.

Absolutely amazing property

From start to finish, we enjoyed every aspect of the stay. Giovanni and Emelia were helpful with anything and everything we needed. From taxi to city driving permits they always responded quickly and made the appropriate arrangements for us. The property is an amazing building and apartment located in close proximity to many restaurants and the city center. I highly recommend staying here.

Perfect experience

Giovanni and Marina are premier hosts, the apartment was super organized and equipped. Location couldn’t have been better right on edge of Old Town and on the Sea. Views were amazing and walking distance to dozens of great restaurants. Requests and responses were fast and professional. We have done many VRBO stays and strongly recommend Porta Felice!

History, Location and a beautiful terrace

This quirky apartment is full of character and history. The hosts are delightful and the terrace is an amazing place to spend some downtime. Location is perfect for sightseeing and evenings out but is quiet enough for sleeping. The apartment is well equipped, clean and well maintained with everything you need for a stay in Palermo.

Amazing views of Palermo Harbor

Stop looking elsewhere! This unit is an exceptional spacious apartment. It is located right on Palermo Harbor and has a large private rooftop balcony for viewing harbor ships and activities. It is located right at the end of the exciting historical center so it is an easy walk to restaurants and visitor activities but not in the middle of the chaos! Giovanni is extremely welcoming and ensures that we had everything for a fun and safe adventure in Palermo.

Trip away with girls

Beautiful property, great location. Fabulous views from veranda. Some outside street noise at times so take earplugs if you are easily disturbed. We enjoyed exploring the city & took trips out to Cefalu (gorgeous), Monreale Cathedral & Mondello beach although the later we did find challenging to find bus stop then actually get on it! Overall though a great break & adored the Gelato.

Spacious comfortable apartment in historic area

This apartment exceeded our expectations in every way. It was extremely spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. The roof terrace is enormous and provides a great view of the sea and port. The wi-fi, heating and hot water all worked well. The hosts were considerate and attentive. The location is in a historic area and there are many restaurants nearby. The neighbourhood felt safe and we had no concerns about going out in the evening. Highly recommended.

Great place

The house was vey nice it is full of character, you are surrounded by some lovely furniture and art. Make a.change from bland modern villas. The roof terrace is as the pictures. You are in Palermo so it was noisy but that is what earplugs are for. Host was very responsive and the building is very secure, the host and most of his family live in different apartments.

Great accommodation in Palermo

Very large flat in quiet, outstanding location in Palermo. Right on the waterfront behind Porta Felice, only a few minutes walk to the city centre. The roof terrace and surrounding balcony are huge and great for relaxing. Communication with Giovanni and his mother was outstanding, extremely friendly and accommodating. The flat was super clean, very spacious and fully air conditioned. Even water and little things were prepared for us in the fridge. It couldn't have been better, we will be very happy to come back!

Wonderful terrace.

Wonderful terrace with view of harbour - we loved watching the cruise liners arrive and depart: very spacious, well-equipped apartment: host Giovanni and his mother Marina responded immediately to problems and could not have been more helpful. The apartment is in the Kalsa, the old Arab quarter and a great location. Lots of restaurants, bars, a Sunday Market, and museums like Palazzo Mirto, Palazzo Butera and Palazzo Abatellis are all within walking distance. If we return to Palermo we would not want to stay anywhere else!

Spacious holiday flat with phenomenal roof terrace

The flat is very spacious and offers everything that makes a stay in Palermo pleasant. The welcome was very friendly, as well as the pre-organization and the abundant food available surprised us positively. The roof terrace with its wonderful view of the harbour entrance is worth a visit at any hour. One is in good hands on the two highest floors of the house above the lively Palermitan surroundings. We enjoyed the week in Palermo and in the flat very much and will gladly come again.

Just stop looking...

I recall another reviewer saying of this apartment, "Just stop looking." I thought of the accuracy of that review several times while staying here. It's hard to imagine you'll find a better place, in terms of location and quality. Giovanni is helpful and generous. Just stop looking.

Superb

Outstanding and quite large property, right on the Porta Felice with amazing outdoor space and views. The apartment is well furnished with a very high level of equipment (from the number of pillow and bedding choices to coffee machine, panini press and a huge shade parasol on the terrace. Nice high quality bits and bobs to welcome us as well (wine, beer, water, snacks etc). Everything in the apartment was of a good quality. Plus Giovanni arranged a great and well priced airport transfer for us as well. A really good choice for us - we loved it.

Best VRBO ever

Location, location, location!!! Best location in Palermo!! Walking distance to everything!!!! The private roof top patio was amazing!!!! Most evenings were spent up there with a bottle of wine. Giovanni was amazing!!! When I left I just walked out the door. He would not let me help with removing our trash, clean kitchen, nothing! Best trip to Italy!! Only place to stay in Palermo

We have used VRBO and its predecessor a lot. Giovanni is the best host we have had, bar none. From answering questions promptly, to helping us get transportation from the airport, to making accommodations for our bags as we were checking out, he always was exceedingly helpful. The pictures of the unit do not do it justice. The property is large, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The patio you see in the picture is huge and private to this unit. The location is a short walk away from a market, the pier and many excellent restaurants. If you are coming to Palermo, look no further - book this property.

Porta Felice stay

The location of Giovanni’s apartment was perfect with a beautiful view of the port and of the surrounding city of Palermo especially from the rooftop area attached. The apartment was super with everything you need to enjoy your stay in the wonderful city of Palermo. Giovanni’s mother greeted us and took us up to the apartment in the elevator. She showed us everything and even welcomed us with an assortment of goodies: Food, wine and water to start our stay! So nice!! We gave the main bedroom which has a fab view of the port to our friends (we are taking turns choosing). The apartment was built using quality materials and the architect was Giovanni’s grandfather! A short walk to wonderful restaurants and cafes and the Port. The only downsides were a leaking shower in the main. Our ensuite was fine but watch the direction of the shower spray. Some road noise and construction noise but it did not take away our pleasure staying there. Hopefully we will return one day.

Highly recommended!

We could not have asked for a more beautiful apartment in the heart of Palermo. We enjoyed every minute staying here. The apartment was extremely roomy, with many rooms, including three large bedrooms, a great kitchen, an excellent living room, and some amazing views of the sea! Not only that, but there is a balcony which leads to an unbelievably large private rooftop terrace. We had a new year's eve barbecue on the terrace and it was an experience that we will never forget. The apartment is easy walking distance from the main tourist areas of Palermo and many restaurants. It is such a convenient location! If you wish to rent a car, then it is possible to obtain a parking spot and the correct permit. The property manager, Giovanni, was extremely helpful and responsive. He answered all of our questions quickly and he made absolutely sure that we had everything we needed. He also had many suggestions for what to do in Palermo. We couldn't have asked for a better host. If you're in Palermo with a family, this apartment will make you very happy.

Fantastico!

My bride (of 37yrs!) and I were almost overwhelmed by the kindness, support and grace of our hosts and their team. From the arranged airport pick-up, the drive to town (our second visit to Palermo) and arrival at the unit, we were ready for an extended sojourn into Sicilian life. Our comfort, safety and ease of living were their top priorities. As we practice a 'tread lightly' ethos, we were near food stores, a genial neighborhood, cultural sites and friendly environs. The unit is very large, is zoned for either quiet/privacy areas with plenty of doors to and has kitchen/laundry facilities. (Side note- we are shopping for a clothes drying rack! Our dryer is going on hiatus until fall/winter.) You might want to have ear plugs handy, as the areas nearby large buildings tend to amplify street-level activity. Now 2 days away from the end of our month long stay, we miss most, sitting on the balcony or terrace watching the cruise ships, fishing boats and ferries glide by; marveling at the Italian voice-actors on dubbed American TV shows; the smells/sounds of the Porta Felice, the shops on Vittorio Emanuelle, fresh brioch, elegant gelatos; good, cheap wine; a warm 'bon giorno' from Pino as we leave for a day out; precarious foot paths; NatGeo quality photo ops; vibrant and loud conversations; the four-finger Sicilian hand gesture and shoulder shrugs. Our stay was a revelation to us: that we could have so many creature comforts that our souls were able to relax, breathe and take in what Palermo offered. This, was the trip of a lifetime. Thanks to Marina, Giovanni and Pino. We highly recommend our friends to you for your consideration.
